Open Reason 3.0 Open the Reason Alias located on your desktop File  Open and navigate to saved Reason file from previous lesson
Drum Samples On Redrum, next to any channel click on the “Browse Sample” folder.
Drum Samples Click on the magnifying glass and navigate to the “Reason Factory Soundbank” folder. Navigate to Redrum drum kits  exclusive drums and choose a sample file. Spend time listening to all the different sounds.
Drum Samples Choose a snare sound for channel 1, high-hat for channel 2, and bass drum for channel 3. The remaining unused channels (3-10) are optional -but feel free to add embellishment sounds.
Drum Programming Select a ReDrum channel and experiment by choosing different steps for each channel. You can only program one channel at a time but when you click RUN, Reason plays back every channel that has programming.
Drum Programming Experiment with all the knobs -level, velocity, length, pitch and tone of each sample. Notice how each setting can change the feel of the overall drumbeat.
Drum Programming :: Snare Pattern Select Pattern A1 Select channel 1 (your chosen snare sound) Make sure resolution is set to 1/16 and highlight steps 5 and 11 as shown in the next slide.
Drum Programming :: A1 Snare Pattern
Drum Programming :: A1 Hi-Hat Pattern Select Channel 2 (your Hi-Hat sound) Select steps 1,3,5,7,9,11,13-16
Drum Programming :: A1 Bass Drum Pattern Select channel 3 (your bass drum sound) Select steps 1, 9, and 11
Drum Programming :: A2 snare pattern Click A2. We need slight variation for main three samples (Snare, Hi-Hat and Base Drum). In this example select steps 7, 13, and 16 for A2 Snare pattern, which creates slightly different and more complex feel.
Drum Programming :: A2 bass drum pattern Add complexity by selecting steps 1,4,5,10 and 11.
Drum Programming :: A2 Hi-Hat pattern For A2 Hi-Hat pattern -select all eighth notes to keep simplicity and make a nice balance for the more complex snare and bass drum patterns.
