This document summarizes a research project that aims to analyze how political elites in Indonesia change after regime changes by extracting networks of relationships between elites from newspaper articles. It outlines the sources of data, how entities and networks will be extracted from the unstructured newspaper text, potential network analysis methods to study changes in elite centrality and clustering before and after regime changes, and the need for experts in Indonesian history to help with interpretation. The focus is on elite rotations after major political transitions in Indonesia, including independence, the fall of Suharto, and the transition to democracy.
