- 2. Reference Materials • Is a compilation of specific type of information • It is intended for easier access. • It gives factual and informative information. • They are used for academic or scholarly purposes like research.
- 3. Newspaper Is a publication, usually issued daily, that contains current news, editorials, feature articles, obituaries, and advertisement.
- 5. Magazines Is a periodical containing a collection of articles, stories, pictures and other special features about interesting topics like health, sports, and entertainment.
- 7. Atlas Is a collection of maps or charts that present important data such as country’s geography, politics or government, religion, and economic status.
- 9. Encyclopedia Is a comprehensive reference work that comprises of entries on a wide range of subjects or body of knowledge. It is usually arranged alphabetically, and it consists of many volumes.
- 11. Almanac Is an annual publication composed of various lists and tables about astronomical and astrological information and other important events of the year often arranged by date. Some of the common data included are weather forecasts, tide tables, rising and setting of sun and moon, festivals, statistics and time lines.

Parts of speech- tell whether the entry word is a noun, pronoun, verb etc. 4. Syllabication- shows how a word is divided into syllables. 5. Pronunciation Guide- shows how a word should be pronounced. 6. Etymology- gives the details about the origin of an entry word. 7. Stress mark- shows which syllable of the word should be stressed or accented
