- 1. Reflection Journal Week One Pre-proposal andproposal Before I started with the proposal. I had some brief ideas about my comedy film. I think it’s a good idea to do a preproposalto startthinking about the final idea. My firstidea is abouta couple who meet his family which then turns awkward becauseher ex is there. But I felt so disappointed becausemy tutor didn’t like my idea and give me his idea about two men trying to impress a lady not knowing the lady is a lesbian. I understand the story needs to be simple to understand. I preferred my idea because I wantto show my film is actually my original idea. I have someskills with technology because I havecreated two shortfilms. But I need other skills like black and white, fast and slow motion because I haven’tdone them. I will definitely use them to test which is best for my final film. One thing is very important: melodramatic and slapstick because that is my favouriteperformanceand is suitable for comedy films. Also, I am frustrated with proposalbecausemy tutor and my interpreter keep telling me something is wrong with it becausesometimes I talk too general and need to be more focused on the idea. The fact I am Deaf and I useBSL means I struggle to understand English and read the question so my interpreter translates the question making it more understandable. Next time when the question comes out, I mustbe calm and read careful before I write it. Influences I researched four marvellous and fabulous comedian actors because they are influencing me to idea for my comedy film. That is important to me becauseI want to know how to communication without any dialogue and use melodramatic/slapstick to tell the story. I watched some videos to see how the actors used physicality with melodramatic and slapstick. I had a little of bit frustration becauseI tried to research someactor’s background story butsome doesn’thave any. But I realise that I must go to library and I found some important books. I was so glad that I found a book called Romantic comedy film in early 1900s which is perfect for my comedy film. I read it and I also realise that the most of romantic have lip-kissing, snogging, nudity and sex. I must ask my tutor an important question about college media and performing arts allowing real kisses. My tutor said that depend on the actor’s age and
- 2. must follow college rules. Also, I have to ask the actor’s permission for kiss and to touch each other. So, I will research moreabout them in my research projectbecause that is very interesting for the romantic film.
