- 1. To begin with my internship course, i must look for suitable architecture firm to take me as an intern. In order to look for architecture firm i had been in few selection throughout online registration and also introduction from my relatives. Fortunately i been selected from Hajeedar And Association that i have introduced by my relative.Due to some consequences i am able to get intervew by the boss himself which is the well know Architect Hajeedar with my fellow mate Toh Kean Hou. We do appreciate have Dato Ar Hajeedar precious time to have interview with us and after that both of us been selected as intern having our practice in Hajeedar And Association of- fice located at 8 Jalan Telawi Tiga Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. Our intern will be starting accordingly on 3th January 2017 date given by Taylor Universities Architecture program. Firstly, when internship come up to my mind eventually it is just some practical work as autocad drawing, 3d model, folding drawings or little tiny stuff might even unrelated to archi- tecture might hand it over as our intern job. However, during the time when i was working in Hajeedar And Association different way of method use by our supervisor. As he mention “ intern is not meant to work, because is not fair to having someone who not experience to handle pro- fessional job by self. Therefore, during the internship he been lecturing and guiding by having us observe the procedure of work in architecture firm. They believe by having observation is one of the teaching method towards “fresh crab” as intern. Hence, by using this method we manage to gain more procedure knowledge of reality architecture firm. From the starting of project brain storming section , idea doodles, concept development, and all sort of design scheming up until dealing with local authorities. Furthermore, having a good relationship and patient dealing with consultant, client during conference and leadership as an architect to manage the whole projects until it comes to finishes. Based on the background history of our internship firm Hajeedar AND Associates SDN, it establish during 1978. This firm have been through 39 over years and dealing with uncounted of major project in Malaysia, and it founded by Dato Ar. Hajeedar Abdul Majib Kuala Lumpur, and has successfully tackled several challenging building projects from mosques, conservation of historical buildings, institutions and commercial projects.Dato’ Hajeedar’s contributed to the inclusion of a conservation chapter in Kuala Lumpur 1st Structure Plan; his conservation and restoration works on Industrial Courts, Infokraf Centre, Kuala Lumpur Museum; conservation and re-adaptation work on Carcosa Seri Negara, commercial projects such as the high rise of- fice buildings for Development Bank, MNI Twin Tower, Telekom Regional Office, PNB Service Apartments and the Tabung Haji Building in Ipoh. Religious projects include the Abu Bakar As –Siddiq mosque in Bangsar, the IIUM Mosque in the Gombak Campus; the SAAS mosque in Petaling Jaya, Putrajaya Musollas in Precinct 8 and 9 and Islamic Centre and National Mosque in Republic of Maldives. Dato’ Ar. Hajeedar is an active member of the Institute of Malaysian Ar- chitects (PAM), he was President of PAM (1985-87), he was also involved in the initiative for Aga Khan Foundation For Islamic Architecture in 1980 and the Architect advisor to Kuala Lumpur City Hall for 11 years. For his conservation and restoration works, he was awarded the Penguin Prize by the Norwegian Government in 1985. He has been conferred Datukship from Selangor (2009) & Negeri Sembilan (2015) and received the PAM Gold Medal Award in 2012. Currently, during the day we have been practicing there are few projects on going in Hajeedar And Associ- ate as condominium in Bukit Jalil, mosque in Bangsar, chalet at Cherating Pahang. - 2. Due to my observation, being an architect is not easy. As my supervisor are dealing with problems day and night. Therefore Dato Hajeedar was coming with few sentence as guidance for our young generation architect. For examples “Got use with people behavior”, “dealing people and authorities “,” Keep on practicing and become practical”, and etc. As he mention the philoso- phy keep him to be succeed on the path of doing architecture. Beside that, i have notice that my supervisor is hard working, serious and most about it is the passion towards architecture. From having himself motivate rather than getting motivate, even my supervisor had reached some ages at the same time he never avoid dealing with burden of jobs and having discussion as always. The only thing he manage to in order to have 20 workers he scaled down the company to have much time for himself other than that he is very serious and passion with his job as a professional archi- tect. As an intern like me i been motivate by my supervisor passion and serious of job scope. I got influenced by having observation and got studied in this firm. In advance, scope of architect having different kind of meaning and responsibility and it totally different from campus that what they have told to what i have learnt in Hajeedar AND Associate. From my supervisor he have mention millions of time, “ architecture is everything in the construction”. For example, structure design from engineer, building costing from quantity surveyor, building rendering from graphic designer, construction method from the builders and furthermore. Hence, as my supervisor said architect should be cable of doing everything other than design and also full construction procedure from what they mean is “ A to Z “. Due to hav- ing this great opportunity working with my supervisor and senior i have finally figure out more about architect and what about architect instead of doing assignment and rush for submission in the campus. After having this intern, i have finally know meaning behind and the purpose of having rushing deadline and short period of time for an assignment. Based on my opinion and lecture from my supervisor, time is money as during the development is all cost by the develop- er and contractor as they finish the project efficient and fast they are able to earn their profits as soon as possible, instead of having long construction period the do need money for daily needs. In conclusion, i have learnt a lot during this internship in terms of architecture knowledge in society instead of written in our slides, lecture notes and books. Hence i have own some much debt from Dato Ar Hajeedar as my supervisor and Hanafi as my senior for lecturing me and pass- ing out so much information, philosophy and motivate quotes from them. I will treasure them as good as i can and all this will be granted helping me doing well in my carrier as an architect. Once again, thank you for having amazing tutor to cooperate and giving advise during the intern- ship meeting Mr Zahari Zubir.
