Civil Engineering Laboratory for their cooperation and assistance in the lab-work that was
required for this project.

ABSTRACT
The main objective of this project was to design bridge type structures using bamboo, and arrive
at the optimum design. For the structure, the design of base plate, inclined and top members,
and joints of the structure have been carried out. For the design of joints, the experimental
testing of bamboo joints has been carried out in the compression Testing Machine in the civil
engineering Laboratory. The manual analysis of the forces and moments has been carried out.
fabrication of the truss has been done by the completion of pretest analysis of bamboo joints.
The design details have been depicted with figures and labelled. Using compression testing
machine, a test has been carried out at a bridge truss. it holds a maximum compressive strength
of 5.3 KN, and then it breaks down.
