There are various genres in the film business, so there are makers who have some expertise in them. In this
way, it ought to be no surprise that the horror movies we know and love are the result of experienced
producers and production companaies creating stories, assembling talent and making movie magic, yet with
heaps of screams and, regularly, a few buckets of fake blood.
Some are more discreet than that, however, one thing that the greater part of them have in like manner is the
low, sometimes minuscule, spending plans, which amplify benefits and make the class a standout amongst
the most lucrative in the business. When you consider how minimal the greater part of these films cost, and
how much cash they make, they have a tendency to be the pound-for-pound champion of the movie industry,
metaphorically.
The Purge cost $3 million and made practically $65 million domestically, including a record-busting $34
million opening weekend. Insidious Chapter Two cleared $75 million domestic on a $5 million spending
plan, two years after the first film cleared $50 million on a $1.5 million spending plan.
Numbers like this don't occur with dramas or rom-coms, and they especially don't occur with tentpoles. The
Avengers clears $1.5 billion around the world, however when the financial plan for the film is a reported
$220 million — and the additional millions for P&A are included — the proportions aren't exactly the same.
These producers comprehend that and keeping in mind that they may not work only in the horror genre, they
do what's necessary work in it to make it on to the list above as a standout amongst the most imperative
making horror movies today.
The list above are the production companies that I would have to compete against, the following materials
would be examples of short films that my film would have to compete against.
This film is about a repressed boy who meets a desperate girl at a roadside bar and the story is about how it
leads to a dangerous exploration of their darker impulses.
It is directed by: Will Lowell
Produced by: Cliff Street Productions
It is inspired by a “surreal” real-life experience at a motel a few hours outside LA, Asphyxia is a dark and
moody 10-minute thriller about 2 strangers and their dangerous sexual encounter. Discovering the
relationship between repression and sexual violence, Will Lowell’s impressive short may orbit around the
taboo subject of auto-erotic asphyxiation, yet it is a compelling watch.
It was shot over 2 days, in 2 primary locations, with 2 central characters. It was funded through Kickstarter,
where they raised over $10K.
Due to the fact that Dreamville Productions is a very small production I won’t be able to splurge most
of the budget on great camera quality, equipment’s or special effects. With the given budget and a
quality storyline I believe that PsyKo can beat its competitors and viewers would be attracted since it
is a fusion of psychological thriller and social realism.
