What is resource?
• Resource is the collective wealth of a country or its means of producing
wealth.
• It is something that a country can use to increase its wealth too.
• It is a source of supply, support, or aid, especially one that can be readily
drawn upon when needed.
• It is a source or supply from which benefit is produced.

Characteristics of Resources
• Usefulness
• Limitedness
• All resource are interrelated.

Types of Resources
• Economic Resources
• Biological Resources
• Land or Natural Resources
• Human Resources
Economic Resources
Economic resources are the goods or services available to individuals and
businesses used to produce valuable consumer products. The classic economic
resources include land, labor, capital and entrepreneur.
Economic Resources
Biological Resources
In biology and ecology a resource is defined as a substance that is required by a
living organism for normal growth, maintenance, and reproduction. Resources,
such as food, water, or nesting sites, can be consumed by an organism and, as a
result, become unavailable to other organisms.
Biological Resources
Land or Natural Resources
Natural resources are materials and components that can be found within the
environment. Every man-made product is composed of natural resources. A
natural resource may exist as a separate entity such as fresh water, and air, as
well as a living organism such as a fish, or it may exist in an alternate form
which must be processed to obtain the resource such as metal ores, oil, and
most forms of energy.
Resources
Categories Of Natural Resources
Resources can be categorized
• on the basis of origin
• based on the stage of development
• on the basis of reliability
• based on distribution
Categories Of Natural Resources
Resources can be categorized on the basis of origin:
• Abiotic resources comprise non-living things (e.g., land, water, air and
minerals such as gold, iron, copper, silver).
• Biotic resources are obtained from the biosphere. Forests and their products,
animals, birds and their products, fish and other marine organisms are
important examples. Minerals such as coal and petroleum are sometimes
included in this category because they were formed from fossilized organic
matter, though over long periods of time.
Resources
Categories Of Natural Resources
Natural resources are also categorized based on the stage of development:
• Potential resources are known to exist and may be used in the future.
• Actual resources are those that have been surveyed, their quantity and quality
determined, and are being used in present times.
Natural resources can be categorized on the basis of renewability:
• Non-renewable resources are formed over very long geological periods. Minerals
and fossils are included in this category.
• Renewable resources, such as forests and fisheries, can be replenished or reproduced
relatively quickly.
Resources
Categories Of Natural Resources
Natural resources are also categorized based on distribution:
• Ubiquitous resources are found everywhere (e.g., air, light, water).
• Localized resources are found only in certain parts of the world (e.g., copper
and iron ore, geothermal power).
On the basis of ownership, resources can be classified as
• individual, community, national, and international.
Human Resources
Human resources is the set of
individuals who make up the workforce
of an organization, business sector, or
economy. Other terms sometimes used
include "manpower", "talent", "labor",
or simply "people".
Resources are a vital part of our earth!
Resources of Bangladesh
The main natural resource found here is natural gas. Bangladesh is a net
importer of crude oil and petroleum products. The first commercial oil facility
was built in Haripur. The Jalalabad, Maulvi Bazar, Bibiyana and Bangura-Lalmai
gas fields are also of much importance now. The Bengal delta has a
hydrocarbon-bearing sediment structure with rich mineral deposits. The
northeastern Sylhet Division is the country's largest natural gas and crude oil
producer, followed by Chittagong Division, Dhaka Division and Barisal
Division; while dozens of offshore blocks lay in the Bay of Bengal.
Resources
Resources of Bangladesh
Various kinds of minerals like limestone, hard rock, peat, construction sand,
gravel, glass sand, white clay, beach sand, brick clay, etc. are found here. Many
types of important heavy minerals are discovered in the beaches of Cox’s
Bazar. About 1.76 million tons of heavy minerals are estimated to be in the
ground. Some minerals contain titanium.
Resources
Resources of Bangladesh
The soil of Bangladesh is very fertile and it contains silt and humus. The
country normally has ample of water supply cause it is the country of rivers. So
crops like rice, tea, jute, wheat, corn, etc. grows well here. Even various types of
fruits, potatoes, and vegetables grows well in this place.
Resources of Bangladesh
Human is also part of resources. The population of Bangladesh is vast
regarding its size. It has the highest population density in the world. But rarely
the vast population is of much use here. There are workers but less skillful
people. Intellectuals just leave the country for their personal matter.
Thank You!

