This document summarizes Kristen Spardello's experience teaching writing and the changes she has implemented. It discusses how collaboration, small group work, peer feedback, and dedicated teachers positively impacted her teaching. However, new standards and accountability measures created a negative climate. As a result, Spardello renewed her focus on modeling writing, incorporating student choice and technology, using a writer's workshop approach, and emphasizing the writing process over editing to reinvigorate her teaching.
