FIGURE 1: CHANGING DISTRIBUTION OF WORKFORCE
Baby boomers comprise 46% of the US workforce and by 2010 their retirements will start adversely impacting organizations by creating a knowledge vacuum. This will be particularly true for old-economy companies. An aging workforce - not a new issue for the railroad industry - has been exacerbated by the widespread cost-cutting efforts of the past decade. The Railway Association of Canada reports that the North American railroad sector slashed 50,000 jobs in the last ten years. Union agreements most impacted younger workers creating concerns over the future of the industry. Canada Pacific Railway, in particular, will face a crunch earlier than most as one-fifth of its employees will retire over the next five years. Railroad organizations need to acknowledge and prepare for the business impact of changing workforce demographics.
FIG 2: NO. OF IT GRADUATES IN INDIA Here we can see that the number of IT graduates is increasing day by day in WIPRO. This implies that the innovation level is very high in this organization and which can be revealed from its share in GDP and the growth rate in the market.
FIG 3: Revenues from domestic and export (in USD billion) MARKET SIZE:
FIG 4: Contribution of IT industry to Indian GDP
FIG 5: Indian IT industry Revenue Break-up by Country
FIG 6: Indian IT industry Revenue Break-up by company
FIG 8: Break up of Total Global IT Spending.
FIG 9: R&D Spending of IT majors.
FIG 10:VOTING STRENGTH IN WIPRO
Indian IT market is dominated by a few large companies with presence of a number of small and medium companies. IT industry is largely dependent on Banking and financial industry. With the decline in these sectors, the revenue from these is expected to decline, hurting the bottom-line of IT majors. This calls for exploring new verticals. The Americas and Europe continue to be the key markets for the Indian IT- sector. Its expend a handy amount of money in R&D sector.Yet its share is very less and it should invest more and more in this sector as it is directly related to the profit.
Focus on large, complex , multi – tower organization. Solution sale , integrating various service lines Transforming & business process and business outcome focused. Significantly enhanced risk management capability and large change management capability. Strong joint governance processes

Leaders are trained and educated to make things happen in organizations.
RECOMMENDATION Greater scope for product innovation. Increased focus on high end work like consulting and KPO. Domestic demand for IT services is to grow at 20 % Greater scope to service domains other than BFSI such as Transportation, Infrastructure, etc. Satyam fiasco – Likely to have positive impact on business considering corporate governance. Possibility of shifting of business. Getting higher incremental business from overlapped clients. Can win new business from new clients

  • 62. FIGURE 1: CHANGING DISTRIBUTION OF WORKFORCE
