report:
Ibalitamo, Poly.
Salamat Florian,
Exposure intro only.
makasaysayangpangyayari at kinilala dahilsa kanilangkatapangan.Sa
pagpapatuloy,AngNHR or National Heroes committee ay nakapagadopt ng
mga Criteria for National Heroes
(record)
• Heroes are those who have a concept of nation and thereafter
aspire and struggle for the nation’s freedom.
• Heroes are those who define and contribute to a system or life of
freedom and order for a nation.
• Heroes are those who contribute to the quality of life and destiny
of a nation.
However, additional criteria are added on November 15,1995 which are:
(record)
 A hero is part of the people’s expression. But the process of a
people’s internalization of a hero’s life and works takes time, with
the youth forming a part of the internalization
 A hero thinks of the future, especially the future generations.
video
Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Aguinaldo, Apolinario Mabini,
Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Sultan DipatuanKudarat, Juan Luna,
Melchora Aquino, Gabriela Silang and ofcourse, Dr. Jose
Rizal, ---- (red gala)
(Exposure)
In addition, Jose Rizal has given recognition for his
undeniable contributions that until now we always were
looking up to all of his achievements and principles in life .
Hence, In honoring his bravery and courageous acts,
there were lots of reminders in the Philippines. (red)
There are commemorative monuments to Rizal in
Manila near the site of his execution in Luneta Park, we
will always see his portrait which appears on the Filipino
1-peso bill; his hometown in Calamba is also a must
destination, lastly his novels are required reading for
Filipino high school students and there’s a law mandating
all educational institutions in the Philippines to offer
courses about José Rizal. Thus, by meansofthese, hewill
alwaysbearin Filipinos mindas theheart of thePhilippine
revolutionandthePhilippinenationalhero.
Back toyou,Florian.
Ako: Maraming salamat, Poly. Indeed, he set a good
example of a true Filipino who had been sacrificed his
own life for our country. In continuation, we are now
moving forward to Rizal’s concept of nation building. We
are lucky to be able to have a one on one interview with
our very own, Dr. Jose Rizal. Ibalita mo, Flor. ( orange suit)
Rizal’s concept of nation building (talkshow)
 Ako: Salamat, Florian. Yes you heard it right, tayo ay mapalad na
itoay malalamannatinang kanyang konseptohinggilsaNATIONBUILDING.
But let us define first what is Nation Building.
Nation building– development of a nation/country (we will know later on
what are the concept of rizal on how to attain dev of phil)
explanation- even though hesitant ang Spanish govt to give equal right and
freedomforcountry,rizalwantedtoregainwhathavebeen takenawaytothem.
Ako: What inspired you to really attain the development of Philippines?
to improve the conditionof our country by means of my political writings
and ideas.” (flash short vids of Spaniard’s injustices)
Ako: Ofcourseweareawarepo how goodyou arein writing sir.Not justgood
but excellent.
Rizal: Yes, I believe kasi na pen is mightier than sword. I didn’t just use my
pen just to fight for colonizers, but I became a pen myself serving as the
unheard voice of the Filipinos during my time.
Ako: When and how did you realize and understand why there is a prolong
subjugation of Spaniards in our country?
Rizal: Okay there are two factors na narealize ko why there is a prolonged
subjugation in our country. Those are 1) Lack National consciousness-
somehow ang Filipinos before ay walang kamalay malay na they are being
Also, they don’t
2) lack of education of our people- of course ito madalas na natin to
matalakay dito tayo mejo magtatagal. First of all, Yes we are thankful that
our colonizersbroughteducation in Philippines. But…Wearefully awarethat
the education systembefore was mostly religion oriented and controlled by
the church. As much as I believe that Education is the key to freedomof our
country,if there is no suitable liberal education, it cannotbe achieved. Dapat
religion. In my time when I was studying in the Philippines, the system of
education before was nothing more of repetitive prayer, there are no
academic freedom and very backward yung progress and at the same time,
mayroong racial discrimination between Spanish and Filipino students.
That’s why noon, kapag may pagkakataon na makapag aral sa ibang ibansa,
grab na agad. Justlike me, I studied in Europe. This wasinfluenced by Fr.Jose
Burgos. I remember back then, my parents didn’t know na mag-aaral ako
don. Only my brother Paciano ang nakakaalam. So again, education in
Philippines before was headed by Priests. Mga paring Espanyol ang
nagdedecide what subject to teach sa school. Why relihiyon? Because they
want to convert the Filipinos into Christianity.
Ako: Yes, because for the information of everybody, beforethearrivalof the
Spaniards, Pagan pa po ang mga Filipino, They worship tree, lupa, even tubig
and so much more. Okay next question po. Speaking of Education po, What
was your idea po ba or concept of Education para sa ating bansa noon
Rizal: What a nice question, The following was also my Educational Reform.
As I havesaid a while ago, Education is very importantas a medicine that can
cure the problem of the Philippines so:
First, The curriculum of a modern liberal education should include either:
Religion, hygiene, mathemathics, natural and social sciences, literature,
languages, physical culture and arts. so for me hindi naman necessary na
Second naman is the feedbacking of teacher’s to parents, For me there
shouldbe a weeklyaccounting byteachers of student’sprogressandconduct
parents should be informed monthly of the progress, conductand health of
student.
Third, there should be a focus on behavior and punctuality of students.
Fourth,lahat dapatng mga kaguruanmustbe passedadmissionexamination
on a competitive basis if there is several applicants. Dapat masala ang mga
magiging educator.
Fifth, there should be no racial discrimination in the admission of students.
#EducationForAll
Sixth, Gymnastics and swimming are obligatory also classes would be six
hours a day including total of 2hrs of physical culture and the arts
Next, Relationship of student and teacher should be a second parent.
Nine,Classesshouldn’tbemoreof memorization of the book’scontentonly.
Students should also be taught how to apply the information, on their life or
future profession.
Ten, classroom should have a complete aide for an effective teaching
Last,
*Commercial*
What naman po yung inyong blueprint(or plan) for nation building?
Rizal: first and most important thing of all is (importance)EDUCATION- I
believe kasi that education is a medicine and something that will cure the
problemof our country. ITcan improvethe quality of life of every people. Sa
mga nanunuod, hindi man nag mmade sensengayon yung pag aaral mo bat
ka nakikinig ng talakayangito, but Somedayyou’llunderstandthatEducation
is your wealth na hindi mananakaw nino man. LAmang ang may alam at dika
basta basta maloloko ng ibang tao.
Second is, instilling racial pride and dignity- this one naman my goal is to
makethe Filipino to nurtureourself steem andlove forourcountry. To boost
the self confidence and for them to be able to know their true identity and
to turn them into #ProudFilipino.
One of the reason why Filipinos are tamad, because of feeling
of inferiority.
Its like they set
their own boundary.
Third is promotion of national consciousness- in order for us to attain
development, kailangan may pakialam tayo sa nangyayarisa bansa natin. As
I mentioned earlier, Filipinos has no idea that Spaniardsaredoing all the law
and rights for their benefits mostly.
Fourth is re-orientationof values andattitudes-in order for us to step up as
a nation, weneed to changeour negative attitude na mayroon tayo such as-
“Bahala na attitude” “Ningas kugon”yungexcited lang sa una gawin ang mga
bagay , as well as “Crab mentality” and “Manana Habit”
And Last is Willingness to sacrifice for our country- Sacrificing for our
Sacrificing
is to serve the Philippines first before we serve other country.
Ako: What a good plan po. Indeed that The paramountproblemduring your
time was the development of National consciousness. Those were a good
Thank you so much po for
giving us the time to really explain us what you did and contribute for the
freedom of our Nation.
-----
Rizal’s Program of Action- mga plan ni rizal that are accomplished
(Kuya Kim) Kaunting kaalaman.
1)Organizea group of Filipino students in Madrid that
would use their varied talents to work for solution
to Philippine problem. (CIRCULO-HISPANO
FILIPINO) Na naestablish sa spain. It is a
organization na humihingi ng reform sa Espanish
Government. Rizal also made a newspaper in this
organization called Revista del circulo Hispano-
Filipino. It is also just as the same in the
Organization of La Solidaridad
2)similar and inspired to Harriet Beecher Stowe’s
Uncle Tom’s Cabin and Eugene Sue’s The He
propose writing a book Wandering Jew ….which
would deal with the various aspects of Filipino life.
That book would be the project of Circulo Hispano-
Filipino with each member contributing a chapter
(This book was entitled Noli Me Tangere).
Supposedly the Noli Me Tangere was a
collaborative work with the members of CHF, but
unfortunately, the members of CHF wanted to
make a book about Women. But Rizal on the other
hand want to make a book about condition of
On the other
hand, rizal was not favor to have a revolution in the
Philippines that’s why he wrote El Filibusterismo.
His motive in writing the said novel is to open the
eyes of the Filipinos that revolution isn’t the key to
attain the independence of the Philippines.
However, Rizal wasn’t heard by the Filipinos.
3)From the records in the vast Filipiniana Collection
of the British Museum, Rizal had pieced together
the past history of the Philippines which revealed
that even before the coming of the Spaniards, the
Filipinos already had a developed culture, and of
these records, he chose to annotate Antonio
Morga’s Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas( Events in the
Philippine Island). It is all about his personal
experience and other documentation noong
pumunta sya sa Pilipinas.
4)He wrote “The indolence of the Filipinos” which
came out as a series of articles in La Solidaridad
from July 15 – Sept 15 1899. This is the essay made
by Rizal represents Rizal’s defense of the Filipinos
to Spaniards. “Tamad ba ang mga Filipino?” that’s
the question that was answered to the said article
Rizal wrote. Other than that, he also stated in the
article the factors and reasons kung bakit hindi
tamad ang mga Pinoy.
5)He also established organization called La Liga
Filipina. Unfortunately, 3 days after the
establishmenthe was arrested. The unique thing in
this organization is that it allowed the involvement
of the ordinary Filipino people in the reform
movement. Kahit sinong Filipino regardless of the
social status in life, pwede sumali. Kaya nga pati si
Andres Bonifacio na hindi nakatapos ng pag-aaral
ay nakapasok sa organization.
6)His exile in Dapitan demonstrated the hero’s
untiring efforts at continuing the program of action
that he relentlessly pursued for the realization of
his plan and blueprint of nation building.
Political and Economic Reforms
CHIKA MINUTE.
With
that, tar ana chikahan tayo!
According to Jose Rizal, governments are established for
the welfare of the people. He wanted to inflict the
following rights:
1)Magna Carta (document consist of right and privilege
of Filipinos) protecting the life, liberty and property of
Filipinos.
2)Restoration of Filipino representation in the Spanish
Cortes- Before naman kasi we have Filipino
representative in the Spanish court, but
unfortunately in 1837 it was abolished at dina
narestore
3)Freedom of the press, of association, of religion, and
equality before the law
Freedom assimilationof the Philippines as the province
of spain - This was the aim of the Propaganda
Movement. Unlike sa Katipunan, they want to have total
independence of Filipinos from the hands of Spaniards

Rizal: first and most important thing of all is (importance)EDUCATION- I believe kasi that education is a medicine and something that will cure the problemof our country. ITcan improvethe quality of life of every people. Second is, instilling racial pride and dignity- this one naman my goal is to makethe Filipino to nurtureourself steem andlove forourcountry. To boost the self confidence and for them to be able to know their true identity and to turn them into #ProudFilipino. One of the reason why Filipinos are tamad, because of feeling of inferiority. Like in their mind, iniisip nila ay “ops dito na lang kami, hindi naming kayang lampasan ang kayang gawin ng colonizers. Its like they set their own boundary. Third is promotion of national consciousness- in order for us to attain development, kailangan may pakialam tayo sa nangyayarisa bansa natin. As I mentioned earlier, Filipinos has no idea that Spaniardsaredoing all the law and rights for their benefits mostly. Fourth is re-orientationof values andattitudes-in order for us to step up as a nation, weneed to changeour negative attitude na mayroon tayo such as- “Bahala na attitude” “Ningas kugon”yungexcited lang sa una gawin ang mga bagay , as well as “Crab mentality” and “Manana Habit” And Last is Willingness to sacrifice for our country- Sacrificing for our country doesn’t necessarily mean na mamatay ka para sa bansa. Sacrificing is to serve the Philippines first before we serve other country. Ako: What a good plan po. Indeed that The paramountproblemduring your time was the development of National consciousness. Those were a good plan po para magising ang isipan ng mga Pinoy. Thank you so much po for giving us the time to really explain us what you did and contribute for the freedom of our Nation.

Ito nga ay ang mga sumusunod: 1)Organizea group of Filipino students in Madrid that would use their varied talents to work for solution to Philippine problem. (CIRCULO-HISPANO FILIPINO) Na naestablish sa spain. It is a organization na humihingi ng reform sa Espanish Government. Rizal also made a newspaper in this organization called Revista del circulo Hispano- Filipino. It is also just as the same in the Organization of La Solidaridad 2)similar and inspired to Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin and Eugene Sue’s The He propose writing a book Wandering Jew ….which would deal with the various aspects of Filipino life. That book would be the project of Circulo Hispano- Filipino with each member contributing a chapter

Supposedly the Noli Me Tangere was a collaborative work with the members of CHF, but unfortunately, the members of CHF wanted to make a book about Women. But Rizal on the other hand want to make a book about condition of Philippines, eventually sinolo na lang ni Rizal ang pag gawa ng book ng Noli me Tangere. On the other hand, rizal was not favor to have a revolution in the Philippines that’s why he wrote El Filibusterismo. His motive in writing the said novel is to open the eyes of the Filipinos that revolution isn’t the key to attain the independence of the Philippines. However, Rizal wasn’t heard by the Filipinos. 3)From the records in the vast Filipiniana Collection of the British Museum, Rizal had pieced together the past history of the Philippines which revealed that even before the coming of the Spaniards, the Filipinos already had a developed culture, and of these records, he chose to annotate Antonio Morga’s Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas( Events in the Philippine Island). It is all about his personal

This is the essay made by Rizal represents Rizal’s defense of the Filipinos to Spaniards. “Tamad ba ang mga Filipino?” that’s the question that was answered to the said article Rizal wrote. Other than that, he also stated in the article the factors and reasons kung bakit hindi tamad ang mga Pinoy. 5)He also established organization called La Liga Filipina. Unfortunately, 3 days after the establishmenthe was arrested. The unique thing in this organization is that it allowed the involvement of the ordinary Filipino people in the reform movement. Kahit sinong Filipino regardless of the social status in life, pwede sumali.
