WHAT IS ROBOTICS
Robotics is the branch of
technology that deals
with the design,
construction, operation,
and structural disposition,
manufacture and
application of robots and
computer systems for
their control, sensory
feedback, and
information processing
ROBOT
• A Robot is a
“computer-controlled
manipulator with
artificial sensing...
preprogrammed to
control tools to
perform complex
tasks”
HISTORY OF ROBOTICS
• 1970-Shakey was introduced
as first mobile robot
controlled by AI , produced
by SRI international
• 1974-a robotic arm that
performed small parts
assembly using feedback
from touch and pressure
sensors was designed
Robotics
Robotics is needed because:-
• Speed
• Can work in
hazardous/dangerous
temperatures
• Can do repetitive tasks
• Can do work with accuracy
HOW DO ROBOTS WORK
Gathers
information
from sensors
Processes the
input
Performs the
desired action
TYPES OF ROBOTS
Mobile Robots
Stationary Robots
Autonomous Robots
Remote-controlled Robots
Virtual robots
Mobile robot Stationary robots
Remote controlled robots
Virtual robots
Autonomous robots
HOW DO ROBOTS ARE
PROGRAMMED
Advantages :-
 Going far down into the unknown waters and mines where
humans would be crushed
 Working at places 24/7 without any salary and food.
 They can perform tasks faster than humans and much more
consistently and accurately
 Most of them are automatic so they can go around by
themselves without any human interference.
 Going to far away planets.
Disadvantages :-
People can lose jobs in factories.
It needs a supply of power
It needs maintenance to keep it running.
Conclusion :-
 Robots are taking over tasks which are deemed dull, dirty and
dangerous
 The idea of robots with greater intelligence than humans is at
least 50 years away, and may never come.
 It’s not the robots we need to worry about ; it’s the people
who program them.
 Humanoids can be used as workers at Exhaustive task
