To connect a ROC 800 to a computer via serial port and set up the IP address using ROCKLINK software: 1. Create a DB9 female to RJ45 connector with specific wire configurations and combine it with a RS232 serial converter. 2. Plug the converter into the computer and connect an Ethernet cable to the ROC 800 port. 3. Open the ROCLINK 800 software, directly connect to the ROC, and set the IP address under the device information tabs. 4. The ROC 800 serial port is now connected and its IP address is configured for internet access.

- 3. Make Your DB9 Female to RJ45 Connector For ROC • RED wire on connector goes to slot 5 • Green wire on connector goes to Slot 3 • Yellow wire on connector goes to Slot 2 • No other wires need to be connected
- 4. Making this adapter right is very important. The RS 232 serial port on the ROC 800 uses this configuration. Only 3 wire colors are used and the rest can be stuffed in connector body.
- 5. A RS 232 converter with DB9 male end will be used with built connector. Make sure you install the driver for it in programming computer.
- 6. Combine the connector you made with the serial converter RS 232 and attach an Ethernet cord to it. Now you can plug the USB end into a computer and other end of Ethernet cord into the RS 232 port on the ROC.
- 7. Connect Ethernet End into LOI Port for Serial Connection.
- 8. Open ROCLINK 800 Software. Use computer mouse and click by User ID. The Default password and user ID fills in automatically.
- 9. On the ROCKLINK Software click on ROC tab and Direct Connect. The ROC will appear on screen in a few seconds and in the bottom right corner will be a green light for connected.
- 10. No connection made • Make sure female DB9 to Rj45 was made correctly. Red-5, Green-3, and Yellow-2 • Did you load the right driver for RS 232 converter? • Check all connections • Did you put Ethernet end in ROC LOI slot for RS 232?
- 11. By serial connection you can setup the Internet IP address. On the ROC picture in the program, double clink on space between cards. A window will open up with device information.
- 12. Under General tab make sure you put in address and group. Example IP is 192.168.32.50. Address is 32 and Group is 50.
- 13. In device information under Internet tab enter in IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address. Now the ROC Internet port is set up.
- 14. By serial connection you can download a configuration file or save a configuration file. On a download make sure you check what you want downloaded. System variables and comm port parameters are unchecked if IP is setup.
