Cal Poly University commissioned a study to assess renovating and expanding the Julian A. McPhee University Union. Over 4,800 students completed an online survey and focus groups were held. The study found that students would support a $185-205 quarterly fee to improve facilities. Students wanted more food options, lounge spaces, and a computer lab added. However, only 26.7% of students participated in the survey, so the findings may not generalize to all students. The report used both qualitative and quantitative data from multiple stakeholders to provide recommendations about the feasibility of Union renovations.
