- 4. Book and program trailers ❖ What are book trailers? ❖ Genres and ages ❖ How are they made? ❖ What are program trailers? ❖ How are they made? ❖ Trailer soundtrack music ❖ Some of the songs are available on the YouTube channel.

Mooresville PL trailer statistics ❖ Have been making book trailers since January 2010. ❖ 166 in many subgenres. ❖ A mixed success in terms of views and check-outs. ❖ Teresa Jacobsen mentioned the mystery/drama book trailer playlist in the July 2012 issue of Library Journal. ❖ Jaconsen mentions that the “delightful book trailers” “take readers’ advisory to the next level.” ❖ Added program trailers in August 2010. ❖ Currently have 49, from adults’ to children’s programs.

Other videos and statistics ❖ Early literacy videos began in September 2011. ❖ What are they? ❖ Currently have 44. ❖ Most watched video (Animal Alphabet) has 21,000+ hits. ❖ “Cavalcade of Local Talent” ❖ “Treasure Trove (Local History)” ❖ Promoting the library in general. ❖ 300 videos, 150,000 views, 56 subscribers. ❖ Most videos have 100+ views, with some in the thousands.
- 7. Video-related hardware and the future ❖ One digital camera for staff use. ❖ iPad and smartphones in programs. ❖ Skype availability in computer lab. ❖ Long-range goals for a media lab. ❖ Macs, cameras, video-editing software. ❖ Not short-term due to budget. ❖ Touch-screen AWEs for children.

Advice for us as future librarians ❖ Knowledge of technology may not be centralized under one position. ❖ Don’t be afraid to try something strange or different, like book and program trailers. ❖ User demographics may influence what technologies you pursue. ❖ Know about budgets and cycles for replacing technology.
