Roller Coaster Ride Research Paper
The ride I designed is featuring the ninja turtles. I created this roller coaster for people that are
adventurous and looking for a cool and fun ride. When I ride this ride it feels so amazing you go so
fast and the loops are so much fun. Every loop is something new but there s only four loops so get on
and you will have a blast. The four loops include Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo.
My ride reaches speeds up to 78 MPH! The start and end of my ride is where the train cart uses
friction. The friction is used when it is coming to a stop. What does friction do? Friction is the surface
or object rubbing against one another. The start of my ride shoots off at 78 mph and you have to make
sure your head is against the seat because

Questions On Increasing Disciplinary Reading
1. Increasing Disciplinary Reading Biancarosa (2012) states in the introduction to this section that as
students progress up through the grades their reading in content area courses becomes progressively
more distinct (p. 47). A student in a fourth grade science course will encounter different terminology
in a fourth grade social studies course and even more diverse terminology by the time they reach high
school biology. However, I have often found, and Biancarosa (2012) as acknowledges that many
schools do not focus on reading instruction across content areas. Biancarosa elaborates, too often,
schools do not explicitly teach students how the reasoning processes, strategies, and rules for
achieving comprehension vary across the content areas (p. 47). In order to develop adolescents
literacy skills we need to increase their interaction with diverse disciplinary texts. Looking at this from
the higher education lens, once a student moves from the college prep classroom to the collegiate
environment they will be required to demonstrate comprehension and research skills in their
specialized field of study. The best measure that teachers in the K 12 arena can do to assist them for
this transition is to increase their interaction with these texts during the duration of their elementary
and secondary school years.
2. Help Students Achieve Proficiency in Digital Reading This was rather a common sense
recommendation given how much technology and digital reading students are

Eutrophication in te Chesapeake Bay Essay
Introduction
What is your topic/issue within that topic?
Eutrophication is a concern in the Chesapeake Bay. Eutrophication is caused by excessive amounts of
nutrients. Excessive nutrients in the bay have negative effects on the bay s ecosystem. The extra
nutrients make the environment unbalanced. The extra nutrients cause a chain reaction that eventually
kills most of the organisms in that area. This is what is known as a dead zone.
What is your personal interest in the topic?
This topic is interesting to me because it is a very local issue. I eat the seafood out of the Chesapeake,
I fish in many of its tributaries, and I visit many sights built around this watershed. I live in Lancaster
County which is focused on in many studies because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is understood that there is not just one problem causing the dead zone in the bay. Two main
contributors are the focus. Details are presented on the problems brought to the bay by agriculture, and
development. The language is easy to understand and the scientific and environmental message is
conveyed in a way that can be followed.
Summary of source The importance of the Chesapeake Bay is introduced. The bay is home to a large
amount of seafood businesses, and many people fish the bay and its tributaries for sport. Grass beds
are essential to many of the organisms living in this ecosystem, but are being destroyed by pollution.
Agriculture involves more than a fourth of the bay s watershed. This makes agricultural runoff a big
focus. Excessive nitrogen and phosphorus causes eutrophication. These nutrients come from pesticides
and sewage also. A goal was set in 1985 to cut back the percent of nutrients being put into the bay by
these two sources. It is thought that redirecting the flow of soil with nutrients in them will reduce the
runoff, but if the nutrients seep into groundwater they still get into the Chesapeake Bay. Farmers have
ways to help reduce these nutrient levels, but it is not the cheapest way to farm, so not all farmers are
doing their part to save the bay. Another contributor of runoff land development. Runoff can occur
from exposed land being prepared to be developed, or because of what has been used to replace what
used to naturally be.

The Stanford Prison Experiment And Group Think
Zhijie Zhu ENG 104 Mr. Crosetti 22/Sept/2015 A Discussion of The Stanford Prison Experiment and
Group Think Group think is a phenomenon that occurs when group s need for consensus supersedes
the judgment of individual group members. Group think often occurs when there is a time constraint
and individuals put aside personal doubts so a project can move forward or when one member of the
group dominates the decision making process. In the article The Stanford Prison Experiment , the
author Philip Zimbardo tells an experiment that ran by a professor who wants to find how could a
prison environment influence people in it. According to what the authors describes, the experiment is
getting more and more out of control. Prisoners are getting tame and keepers are getting bossy which
forces the team to stop the experiment in 6 days instead of 14 days. At the end, the author claims his
idea about the experiment that he is surprised by how people can change in a special environment. As
for me, this article gives me an idea that in some special situation, such as the prison environment in
this article, groupthink is something unavoidable and uncontrollable. In The Stanford Prison
Experiment , the cause of groupthink is a prison environment which gives some people absolute
power while other people have to obey the domination. There followed a reading of the 16 basic rules
of prisoner conduct (231) After 10 p.m. lockup, toilet privileges were denies, so prisoners who had to

Should Capital Punishment Be Re-Instated
During my assessment I will be exploring some reasons why I do or do not think Capital Punishment
should be re instated. The definition of Capital Punishment is the death penalty, one can receive this
by committing a Capital Offence. A Capital Offence is a horrific crime as implied by Capital because a
capital could link to the Leader of that country because Capital is usually used to refer to a place of
importance. Some examples of Capital Offences are: Killing, Espionage, Treason, Homicide and Gang
Members.
One reason I believe that Capital Punishment should be bought back is the Biblical quote an eye for an
eye . This emphasises the belief that if you kill someone your life should be taken away. This quote is
implying justice and it resembles

Utah Symphony Analysis
Financial Strengths:
The Utah Symphony received approximately 5% of its incoming from their endowment fund annually.
The organization raised $3,829 in revenue from rental fees, sets, props, costumes, box office, etc.
However, the symphony believes that the fundraising contributions are sufficient enough currently to
allow ticket prices to remain the same as the prior year is successful. The up side is that there was a
$116,308 in surplus at the end of the year.

There needs to be in place a way to bench mark the progress or lack thereof that is made. In addition,
performance measurement must be instrumental in the growth. The symphony has an opportunity to
hire new top quality talent to take their organization to a new level. A program to scout and recruit
new talent is required explore other performers around the world. Furthermore, with the symphony s
reputation, it should draw in new performers. Perhaps a look at the current salaries are in order to
attract new talent.
Financial and Leadership Recommendations;
Anne Ewers must take the following key steps to address above stated financial weaknesses. She
needs to reduce the overall expenses as it relates to the profit; the percentage of profit is less than one
percent of the total expenses. The symphony should increase profits by increasing ticket prices. In
order for Anne to increase the profitability from $116,000 to $500,000 annually, she needs to increase
their number of performances and make the musicians earn more of their salaries. Furthermore, the
symphony can expand the music selection to include other cultures and communities that are
appealing and invites new customers. Anne needs to solicit feedback from patrons that attend the
opera as well as potential customers. She needs to find out what they would like, what would bring
them back and invite friends and family.

I had just fueled up at the truck stop just east of town and was ready to get started on a five day trip to

The Issue Of Underage Drinking
The issue of underage drinking has been constant for many years. The law for the minimum drinking
age allows people 21 and older to legally drink alcoholic beverages. It is hard to enforce this law
especially on college campuses where lots of underage drinking takes place. Someone that is 18 and
older can get into some clubs where they are getting drinks even though they are not supposed to.
There is a level of responsibility they needs to be taken when people are drinking. They should know
how to handle themselves when alcohol is in their system. Consuming too many alcoholic beverages
can cause health issues, behavior issues, and have other harmful effects on a person. The issues that
come along with drinking alcohol will affect teenagers and college students more than it would affect
someone that is 21 or older. The minimum drinking age law should remain at 21 to keep more young
adults from encountering issues associated with drinking. Young adults that are in the age range of 18
20 are more likely to be more reckless than someone who is older and more mature. Adolescents hit
the age of 18 and feel like they are grown and finally able to do what they want to do. Some have
already started drinking alcohol and will start to drink it more frequently. Having alcohol in their
systems will cause their behavior to change and could affect their rationale of thinking. Their senses
will be affected as well which causes more accidental injuries, altercations, and driving

Myth and Statue of Phidias
Myth: Demeter, Hades, and Persephone
Persephone was the daughter of the Greek god, Zeus, and goddess, Demeter. She was beautiful and
happy. One day, as she was picking flowers in her field, her uncle, Hades, saw her and instantly fell in
love with her. Hades decided to kidnap Persephone and took her to the underworld, where he was the
god. He locked her in the Hall of Hades, where Persephone wept endlessly. There is a legend that says
that if you eat anything in Hades lair, you can never leave. Persephone didn t want to risk being stuck
in hell for the rest of her life, so she didn t eat. This lasted for a week, until she could no longer bear
the hunger; Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds and life in the underworld began to feel permanent.
In the intro to the story it mentions something very important about Zeus wife (and sister), Demeter.
Her job of growing the crops was of the utmost importance if she was happy, her crops would grow
abundantly, but, if she was sad, her crops would wither and die. The people would begin to starve. The
other gods, demigods, and even mortals would strive to keep her happy. What made Demeter most
happy was spending time with her daughter, Persephone. So when Persephone was kidnapped,
Demeter was devastated; and the crops began to die.
Zeus had to get Persephone back because he was the king of the gods and was responsible for the lives
of the people who would die if no crops grew. He sent his son, Hermes, a messenger and great deal

Thi Turtles In Wetlands
Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil, or is present either at or near the surface of the soil all
year or for varying periods of time during the year. The amount of water saturation plays a tremendous
role in determining soil development and the wildlife communities interacting with it, both terrestrial
and aquatic. Abiotic and biotic factors such as topography, climate, vegetation, and human disturbance
give way to a wide variety of wetlands, but for the most part can be generalized into two main
categories. Tidal wetlands are those found close to an ocean and are linked with estuaries, providing
an environment with fluctuating salinities. The combination of salt water and differing water levels

Mating typically occurs in the spring, then females search for terrestrial nesting sites in June or July.
After laying their eggs, the female turtles will leave them, forcing the newborn turtles to survive on

Testudines order is a contradiction to the r/K selection theory, as it does not conform solely to one
strategy. K strategists are defined as long lived individuals with a low reproductive and growth rate.
Offspring are produced in low numbers with high survival rates, and typically require parental care in
their juvenile years. Alternatively, r strategists are short lived and give birth to many offspring at a
time with low survival rates. Minimal parental care is required, as caring for so many would over exert
the parents. Each of these strategies can be applied to turtles because they produce large numbers of
un nurtured offspring, yet have high survival rates, slow growth rate past maturity, and a long lifespan.
Gravid turtles are also typically older, which is another trait of K selective

communications and messages are carefully linked together.
At its most basic level, Integrated Marketing Communications, or IMC, as we ll call it, means
integrating all the promotional tools, so that they work together in harmony.
Promotion is one of the Ps in the marketing mix. Promotions has its own mix of communications

This may also confuse, frustrate and arouse anxiety in customers. On the other hand, integrated
communications present a reassuring sense of order.
Consistent images and relevant, useful, messages help nurture long term relationships with customers.
Here, customer databases can identify precisely which customers need what information when... and
throughout their whole buying life.
Finally, IMC saves money as it eliminates duplication in areas such as graphics and photography since
they can be shared and used in say, advertising, exhibitions and sales literature. Agency fees are
reduced by using a single agency for all communications and even if there are several agencies, time
is saved when meetings bring all the agencies together for briefings, creative sessions, tactical or
strategic planning. This reduces workload and subsequent stress levels one of the many benefits of
IMC.

Two Different Types Of Driver Coasting On The Road
When you trying to get from one place to next you may only think about getting from point A to point
B. Unfortunately, not all drivers get there the same way. Also, not all drivers drive the same. You have
to be caution when driving because there are some harmful and dangerous drivers coasting on the
roads. You also have good driver coasting on the road as well. You may get to your next destination
depending on which category you fall into. These types are reckless, distracted and slow drivers. The
first type of drivers is reckless drivers they tend to be the most dangerous drivers. For instance, you
can be driving down the highway doing the speed limit and two cars race past you. We consider racing
as reckless driving. These drivers are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly it s the elderly people that drive very slow. Some might call it slow others might even call it
driving the speed limit. People are so use to driving over the speed limit that when you drive the speed
limit they think it s too slow. These people are the ones that follow the rules and think about the
outcome of things. People tend to ride closely trying to push the car as if they re in the wrong when in
all actuality, they re doing what s right.
In conclusion, you ve heard about these three totally different type of drivers. Firstly, we have the
reckless drivers, the ones who don t care about anyone but themselves. Then we have distracted
drivers, the ones that that let distraction take their eyes off the road. Finally, the slow drivers also
known as the normal drivers. These people do the right thing and drive the speed limit that is given.
With that being said, which category would you fall under: the reckless, distracted, or slow

Stephen Crane Figurative Language Essay
When many people think of war they just think of a bunch of soldiers fighting on a battlefield. Many
people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. Some people don t
realize the trauma that the soldiers have to go through because of everything they saw and endured in
the war. Stephen Crane uses figurative language in both his poem and short story to prove that war is
very violent and dangerous. Crane shows his readers different perspectives of the war in order to show
his readers what war is really like. Stephen Crane uses irony in War is Kind and A Mystery of Heroism
to reveal that he is against the war by using figurative language and by showing different perspectives
of the war.

In War is Kind Crane is talking to the soldiers families specifically to a soldiers baby and another
soldiers girlfriend. Crane talks about two different soldiers one from the north and one from the south.
In War is Kind Crane talks about the soldier from the north when he says The unexplained glory flies
above them... because the north is winning. When Crane talks about the south he says Swift, blazing
flag of the regiment... because the south is losing the war. This shows us two different perspectives of
the war the winning side and the losing side. Another perspective Crane shows us is in A Mystery of
Heroism when Collins puts himself in a dangerous situation to prove a point and doesn t realize how
dangerous it really is. Collins only went to go get water after this argument There was a quarrel in A
Company. Collins was shaking his fist in the faces of some laughing comrades. Dern yeh! I ain t afraid
to go. If yeh say much, I will go! Collins gets in an argument with his comrades because they think
that he will not go get water and he puts himself in a dangerous situation not realizing it. Collins didn t
realize that he could die just trying to make a point that he could get water. In the story the soldiers do
not seem to understand that the situation that they are in is actually very dangerous

Night And Fog Comparative Essay
The more difference of watching a documentary versus watching a fiction film is how the viewer
choses to interpret the scenes in the film. In a documentary the viewer looks that the images in the
film as part of educational material that is meant to analyzed and studied, while in a fiction film
because the film is preordained to be entertaining the viewer is more likely to allow the scenes to
provoke emotions and relate to some aspect of the viewers life. For example the film Life is beautiful
it s a fiction film about the holocaust, the film expresses some of the same main points as the
documentary Night and Fog also about the holocaust. They both provide two important scenes, the

Dr. Pepper Case Analysis
Dr. Pepper Company
I. Case Summary
From being a practically unknown soft drink company to now being one of the highest performing of
the 1000 largest manufacturing firms, Dr. Pepper has evolved to become an international beverage
organization. Dr. Pepper began its roots back in 1880, in Waco, Texas, when a young soda jerk
invented a soft drink which he named after his father in law (Dr. Pepper). Robert Lazenby began to
market the drink on commercial basis in 1885, and it was not until 1922 that an extensive sales and
distribution program was initiated. The current president of the organization is Mr. Woodrow Wilson
Clements together with Joe K. Hughes who is the executive VP of the firm. The firm is facing a

3. An opportunity exists for the firm to venture into new product lines like energy drinks and other
culinary applications.
C. Internal Weakness
1. The biggest weakness of Dr. Pepper is that it is not diversified. The firm is finding hard to
differentiate its products from that of the competitors. The potential of firm is not being tested and
evaluated properly on which even Mr. W.W Clements says, It would be criminal to branch off into
something else .
2. Another weakness in the firm comes from the ages of the executive officers. Most of the
professionals in the firm are growing old and close to their retirement age. Since they have a lot of
experience and may work beyond their retirement age, but it would be wise for the firm to take young
professionals under their guidance.
3. The firm is producing and wasting its effort and resources in Salute and Waco, fountain syrups,
which only accounts for one percent of dollar sales.
4. Dr. Pepper is one brand domestic company. Lack of product diversification and differentiation, and
also because of the disadvantage against multination organizations like Coca Cola and Pepsi CO., Dr.
Pepper is not the leading seller in any major United States market.

Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization...
The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was
designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research
question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program
would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a
rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in
setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers,
doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole.
To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an
appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused
on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision
analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies
elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the
organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint.
Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence
rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected
children, and vaccine coverage. The

The Idea Of Contyping In The Real Ones By Jo Crayola
Does accepting one s femininity mean having to put on a dress and wear makeup? Does expressing
one s femininity mean having to get married, have babies and looking after the children and their
husbands at home? The women today can be so much more without losing their feminism. There was
a time when men are to hunt and gather food while women stayed at home and cooked and give birth
and look after the children. Nowadays, women are as educated as the men and are able to hold any
position that had been reserved for men. Women today are politicians, leaders of countries,
professionals and even combat soldiers. Thus, they have proven that they are equal to any tasks. The
only reason why they are lacking is probably because of social stereotyping. This is the reason why it
is particularly important to empower femininity.
It is easy to ridicule the idea of empowering femininity is because society already hold negative
attitudes toward anything considered feminine. The poem The Real Ones by Jo Crayola cannot be too
far off from reality when describing how society perceived a real woman or mother should be and how
she should conduct herself. A female can only be considered as feminine if she does not wear a tattoo,
grown a lap, and a husband and a hairless armpit . It is imperative that the world should move beyond
this stereotyping to dismiss and demean feminine gender expression, and to truly recognise women for
who they are. Society has to understand that female

Argumentative Essay On The Great Gatsby
F. Scotch Fitzgerald In history, we tend to want to pick out someone as the best . Mozart was the best
composer, Babe Ruth the best baseball player, Marylin Monroe the best porn star/singer/actress etc.
But this will always be debated, because being the best in something is very subjective. Some will
argue Bach, or Dimaggio, or Hepburn (although to my knowledge Audrey Hepburn never did porn).
Being the best is subjective. Being influential is less so. You don t necessarily have to be considered to
be good to be considered influential, or even good at all. Such is the case of famous American writer,
F. Scott Fitzgerald, not so affectionately known as F. Scotch Fitzgerald. Regardless of what I think of

Prednisolone Is Chemically Known As A Corticosteroid
Prednisolone is chemically known as a corticosteroid which is a steroid hormones (DIAAIC). The
corticosteroids are produced in the adrenal cortex and come in two forms; glucocorticoids and
mineralocorticoids. The two forms differ in that glucocorticoids act as anti inflammatory steroids and
as a metabolising agent. The mineralocorticoids however, work to maintain a balance between the
water and salt levels in the body. Prednisolone is used to treat inflammatory diseases and is therefore
known as a synthetic glucocorticosteroid . Steroids work by reducing swelling and inflammation
(DIAAIC).
Pharmacology
The corticosteroids work by supervising the rate at which the proteins are synthesised. This happens
through the reaction of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the pharmacokinetics aspect, prednisolone is mainly dependent on two characteristics; dosage and
age. Based on how the drug is bound in the plasma, the distribution of the drug can be determined. A
high dosage of prednisolone leads to an increase in the volume of distributed drug. This is due to the
non linear binding of the drug. It is recommended for patients with other disorders to lower their
dosage intake of prednisolone (LinkSpringer). The half life of prednisolone differs in accordance to
age; the half life in children being the shortest. A common issue with patients who take prednisolone
drugs is that the levels of serum binding proteins are low in the patients blood. This is known as
hypoalbuminaemia. The serum binding proteins are important in that they allow the drug to bind for it
to take effect. If a patient were to take oral contraceptives whilst on the prednisolone drugs, it would
decrease the half life and the volume of drug distributed. This would be as a result of high levels of
corticosteroids (LinkSpringer).
Side Effects and counselling
When a patient is prescribed with prednisolone, they must ensure that the prescriber is aware of any
other medications the patient may be taking and of other health issues, if any. This is because different
drugs work in different ways and so to ensure the prednisolone works effectively, the patient

The Emergency Department For Healthcare Organizations
The Emergency Department for most healthcare organizations has been referred to by many as the
gateway to the entire hospital. This is largely in part due to the observation that the Emergency
Department is often the most frequently visited department of the acute care hospital that many
patients will ever receive care from (Falcone, 2013). The Emergency Departments function by its
design is to fulfill a healthcare organizations obligation of providing care during episodes of acute,
severe injuries or illnesses. This function at times can be one that requires a unique workflow to be
present within the department. Adding to the required tasks needed to fulfill this obligation, is also a
large patient population who utilizes the emergency departments resources for non acute and/or
chronic medical conditions that are best classified as non emergent in nature. Nonetheless, the
Emergency Departments of healthcare organizations who are participant s in Medicare and Medicaid,
must balance the allocation and utilization of their resources to accommodate both these acute and non
acute patients within the guidelines that have been set forth by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid
Services or CMS. In addition to this requirement, other regulations such as the Emergency Medical
Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) stipulate that under certain pre defined medical
conditions , Emergency Departments are required to provide a standard of care which can include

The Iron Cage By Sociologist Max Weber
Have you ever felt trapped within the daily responsibilities and tasks that make up your daily agenda
or planner? Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his or her own life, but rather living
by the standards and norms opposed and followed by the members of our modern day society? If your
answer is yes to any of the two questions above, then you are experiencing and living what is known
today as the Iron Cage . The Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by
sociologist Max Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem regarding standards of
living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber argues, that an individual s life is being
transformed not only by the ideas of efficiency, but shaped by the increasing means of rationality and
calculability. Though it can be argued by some that the increasing means of efficiency, rationality, and
calculability have no impact on the identity and development of a person, I stand strong to the belief
that the increasing means of these three factors, contribute to an individual s loss of identity; at the
same time these three factors also contribute and shape an individual s life, this of course, going in
accordance with what society has been idealized with within the context of Weber s theory of the Iron
Cage .
For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers are Iron Caged

Islam, Islam And The Beliefs Of Islam
Religion is the belief of a God, or Gods, and there are many different types of religion. Each religion
has different systems of worship and believes in some different things. Even though every religion is a
little different, sometimes they have some things in common also. Islam is a religion that believes in
one, eternal God, named Allah. The word of Allah is spoken from the angel named Gabriel, to
Muhammad. Muhammad is the founder of the Islamic religion. He was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,
which is where the religion was founded, and he died in the year 632 A.D. Islam was founded in the
beginning of the seventh century. Like stated earlier, Muslims believe in one God. They also believe in
the angels, who are respected creatures, they believe in God s revealed books, including the Quran,
they believe in the Prophets and Messengers of God, where Muhammad was the last Prophet sent by
God, they believe in the Day of Judgement, which is when everybody will be resurrected based on
their beliefs and achievements, and they believe in Al Qadar, where God gives people free will.
Practicing and worshipping in this religion, has some rules, or standard guidelines, for everyday lifes.
These are called the Five Pillars of Faith. These include, Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Sawm, and Hajj. To
start off with, Shahadah is the assertion of belief. It s when the people of the Islamic religion indicate
that there is only one God, and that Muhammad is his prophet. Next, Salah is the routine

Arthur Dimmesdale in The Scarlet Letter Essay
The Scarlet LetterArthur Dimmesdale Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, a main character in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter, proves to be a sinner against man, against God and most
importantly against himself because he has committed adultery with Hester Prynne, resulting in an
illegitimate child, Pearl. His sinning against himself, for which he ultimately paid the price of death,
proved to be more harmful and more destructive than this sin of the flesh, and his sin against God.

Dimmesdale portrays himself very ironically. He is a very well respected reverend and yet, has, for the
last 7 years, worked on preaching the word of God, especially while he urges the congregation to
confess openly to repent unto God. While, in reality, Dimmesdale is the one whoneeds a clean
conscious. He feels like he needs to confess not only to the town but also too himself. Halfway
through the novel
Dimmesdale has yet to reveal the truth, which, so far, has been devouring him, physically and
mentally. Since this good reverend is so spiritual, he cannot reveal his truths to the town so simply. He
is of the Puritan faith and being a follower of that, the sin of adultery is a very grand sin. The whole
town would look down on him as if he were a hypocrite. Which in fact, he is, but his sin of adultery in
that town would have been scoffed at just as Hester s has. The reverend is so well liked by the
townsfolk that
Hawthorne states, They fancied him the mouthpiece of Heaven s messages of wisdom, rebuke, and
love. In their eyes, the very ground on which he trod was sanctified. ( 139 ) How else can the reverend
live without revealing his identity? He has been doing it for seven years, and it must be hard for him,
mentally and physically. Mentally, his whole body shuts down because he cannot take it anymore,
even though he does not give in to confess yet. He has become emaciated because he has let the sin

Summary Of Jhumpa Lahiri s Unaccustomed Earth
Coming Together and Drifting Apart As individuals grow older, the relationship they have with others
can either become stronger or weaker. The story between Hema and Kaushik s connection in Jhumpa
Lahiri s Unaccustomed Earth shows an example of two childhood acquaintances, who have known
each other since their youth, and how distant they had become throughout the years. The sad reality of
losing someone that is close through death or disconnection, creates a life of loneliness that affects the
characters throughout these stories. The awkwardness between Hema and Kaushik in their childhood
days results in a detachment between each other for the duration of most of their lives. In addition, the
relationship with family is affected too; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The enraged Kaushik states, I was furious that you had told me, and that you had not told me, feeling
at one burdened and betrayed, hating you all over again ( Once in a Lifetime 251). Although their
relationship did not last long, it is the undeniable truth that the two became close, despite being forced
to live with each other. In the second story, Year s End told in Kaushik s point of view, it shows the
result of losing loved ones and the inability to adapt to change. The relationship of Kaushik and his
father is affected due to the event of his mother s passing. Kaushik was unsure which was worse the
idea of remarrying for love, or actively seeking out a stranger for companionship ( Year s End 255).
This scene represents Kaushik s persistent view that there is no family outside of the one he grew up
with. As Kaushik s college graduation approaches, it is clear that he still did not make amends with his
stepfamily when he states that, the girls were polite to me, respectful to the fact that it was my day, but
at the same time it was as if we d never met ( Year s End 293). To conclude, Kaushik is bounded by
his relationship with his mother and her attachment to his everyday life hinders any potential
connections with his father and new stepfamily. The last of the three stories, Going Ashore , shows
how Kaushik and Hema were able to meet and rekindle the relationship that they had back then. A

Composting, It s Gross
Composting, it s gross, it s stinky, and it can be downright atrocious, right? Wrong! Well, partly.
Composting can be gross sometimes with food and other weird things decaying, but the advantages
outweigh the risks don t they? Good soils that can help gardens, trees, and plants are worth having a
little stink. Many people think composting is hard, though it can be easier with the right equipment,
the right c:n ratio, and the right boosts that will help kick start your pile.
Compost bins have many different flavors or types. Some include tumblers (or revolving drums), orbs,
and cylinders. Tumblers and orbs are types of compost bins that helps turn your compost easier.
Revolving drums are normally on rollers or can be hand cranked. They are made to spin easier, and
are regularly enclosed. They also can be vertical to turn over, or horizontal to be rolled like a barrel.
Orbs are bins that are octanal shaped or round. Orbs are very similar to revolving drums, but are rolled
on the ground to mix the compost. Some even have numbers that can help you remember when you
last turned it.6 Cylinders are simple designs that are useful, and can be easy to move. Cylinders can be
open or closed. Open cylinders have no top or bottom, but has something of a wall around it. These
can be easily moved and mixed. Closed cylinders are commonly made of a thick plastic, and
contradicting the open cylinder has a top and bottom. They have ventilation and near the bottom there

Research Paper On Guy Fawkes
Guy Fawkes
Guy Fawkes is one of England s most famous criminals; the man most closely associated with the
group of English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of November 5th 1605. Even
though Fawkes wasn t the leader of the conspiracy, he was given the important task of lightening the
fuse to the gunpowder.
Guy Guido Fawkes was born in April 1570 in Stonegate in York, England. Fawkes grew up in York
with his parents Edith and Edward Fawkes, and his three siblings. However, Fawkes father died in
1578, and a couple of years later, his mother married the recusant Catholic Denis Bainbridge. Living

In order to catch the plotters, Cecil decided not to invade the cellar until the very last minute,
expecting some of the plotters to be in position only then.
Guy Fawkes even tried to light the fuse when he saw the soldiers coming, but he got overpowered.
Fawkes was taken directly to the Tower of London and was tortured until he confessed the crime and
gave up the names of the rest of the group.
Guy Fawkes was sentenced to the traditional traitors death; to be hanged, drawn and quartered .
However, on January 31st 1606, Fawkes jumped from the gallows and broke his own neck. This way,
he wasn t alive when his stomach was cut open and his guts spilled before his eyes. The remains of
him was chopped up and sent to the four corners of the kingdom as a warning to the people.
Today, the failed Gunpowder Plot is celebrated as Bonfire night all over Britain, with fireworks and
big fires. This tradition first started when the people of London lit fires to celebrate the safety of the
King. It is also common to burn effigies of Guy Fawkes on the bonfire, which makes some wonder
whether the Brits are celebrating Fawkes execution or honoring his attempt to do away with the

History and Experience of the Sikh Diaspora in the United States
Sikh migrants began arriving in the United States more than one hundred years ago, and now have
reached numbers close to half a million. Like most other immigrant communities in the United States,
Sikhs have faced problems that are both specific to their community and that are also shared by other
ethnic communities making their way in a new land. Despite their recent numbers and century long
history in the United States, many of their fellow Americans know relatively little about Sikhs, their
history, and their faith. They are often confused by others in the United States as being Muslim, as

A Sikh man, by design, stands out in a crowd with his turban and full beard. These outwardly shown

The invasion of the Punjab by the British during the Anglo Sikh War in 1849 led to the annexation of
the Punjab to Britain in March of that year. The ferocity and tenacity of the Sikh warriors greatly
impressed the British, and the fierceness of the British earned the mutual respect from the Sikhs as
well. The British considered the Sikhs a martial race , and Sikhs were allowed to enlist in the British
Indian Army. At it s highest point, Sikh enlistment represented 33% of the British Indian Army,
despite the fact that Sikhs only accounted for around 2% of India s total population.[4] Sikh regiments
were eventually dispatched throughout the colonies of the British Empire. Many of these Sikh soldiers
remained in the colonies after completion of their military duties. Their reputation as soldiers and
warriors put them in demand as employes in police and various other security services throughout the
British Empire. These soldier sojourners represent the first phase of Sikhs being scattered across the
globe.[5]

  • 4. Questions On Increasing Disciplinary Reading 1. Increasing Disciplinary Reading Biancarosa (2012) states in the introduction to this section that as students progress up through the grades their reading in content area courses becomes progressively more distinct (p. 47). A student in a fourth grade science course will encounter different terminology in a fourth grade social studies course and even more diverse terminology by the time they reach high school biology. However, I have often found, and Biancarosa (2012) as acknowledges that many schools do not focus on reading instruction across content areas. Biancarosa elaborates, too often, schools do not explicitly teach students how the reasoning processes, strategies, and rules for achieving comprehension vary across the content areas (p. 47). In order to develop adolescents literacy skills we need to increase their interaction with diverse disciplinary texts. Looking at this from the higher education lens, once a student moves from the college prep classroom to the collegiate environment they will be required to demonstrate comprehension and research skills in their specialized field of study. The best measure that teachers in the K 12 arena can do to assist them for this transition is to increase their interaction with these texts during the duration of their elementary and secondary school years. 2. • 5. Eutrophication in te Chesapeake Bay Essay Introduction What is your topic/issue within that topic? Eutrophication is a concern in the Chesapeake Bay. Eutrophication is caused by excessive amounts of nutrients. Excessive nutrients in the bay have negative effects on the bay s ecosystem. The extra nutrients make the environment unbalanced. The extra nutrients cause a chain reaction that eventually kills most of the organisms in that area. This is what is known as a dead zone. What is your personal interest in the topic? This topic is interesting to me because it is a very local issue. I eat the seafood out of the Chesapeake, I fish in many of its tributaries, and I visit many sights built around this watershed. I live in Lancaster County which is focused on in many studies because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is understood that there is not just one problem causing the dead zone in the bay. Two main contributors are the focus. Details are presented on the problems brought to the bay by agriculture, and development. The language is easy to understand and the scientific and environmental message is conveyed in a way that can be followed. Summary of source The importance of the Chesapeake Bay is introduced. The bay is home to a large amount of seafood businesses, and many people fish the bay and its tributaries for sport. Grass beds are essential to many of the organisms living in this ecosystem, but are being destroyed by pollution. Agriculture involves more than a fourth of the bay s watershed. This makes agricultural runoff a big focus. Excessive nitrogen and phosphorus causes eutrophication. These nutrients come from pesticides and sewage also. A goal was set in 1985 to cut back the percent of nutrients being put into the bay by these two sources. It is thought that redirecting the flow of soil with nutrients in them will reduce the runoff, but if the nutrients seep into groundwater they still get into the Chesapeake Bay. Farmers have ways to help reduce these nutrient levels, but it is not the cheapest way to farm, so not all farmers are doing their part to save the bay. Another contributor of runoff land development. Runoff can occur from exposed land being prepared to be developed, or because of what has been used to replace what used to naturally be. ... • 6. The Stanford Prison Experiment And Group Think Zhijie Zhu ENG 104 Mr. Crosetti 22/Sept/2015 A Discussion of The Stanford Prison Experiment and Group Think Group think is a phenomenon that occurs when group s need for consensus supersedes the judgment of individual group members. Group think often occurs when there is a time constraint and individuals put aside personal doubts so a project can move forward or when one member of the group dominates the decision making process. In the article The Stanford Prison Experiment , the author Philip Zimbardo tells an experiment that ran by a professor who wants to find how could a prison environment influence people in it. According to what the authors describes, the experiment is getting more and more out of control. Prisoners are getting tame and keepers are getting bossy which forces the team to stop the experiment in 6 days instead of 14 days. At the end, the author claims his idea about the experiment that he is surprised by how people can change in a special environment. As for me, this article gives me an idea that in some special situation, such as the prison environment in this article, groupthink is something unavoidable and uncontrollable. In The Stanford Prison Experiment , the cause of groupthink is a prison environment which gives some people absolute power while other people have to obey the domination. There followed a reading of the 16 basic rules of prisoner conduct (231) After 10 p.m. lockup, toilet privileges were denies, so prisoners who had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The definition of Capital Punishment is the death penalty, one can receive this by committing a Capital Offence. A Capital Offence is a horrific crime as implied by Capital because a capital could link to the Leader of that country because Capital is usually used to refer to a place of importance. Some examples of Capital Offences are: Killing, Espionage, Treason, Homicide and Gang Members. Every town has their idiots who can t drive on dry road, let alone slick ones. But for the most part, Portland Oregon isn t a bad place to drive through during a snow storm. • 10. The Issue Of Underage Drinking The issue of underage drinking has been constant for many years. The law for the minimum drinking age allows people 21 and older to legally drink alcoholic beverages. It is hard to enforce this law especially on college campuses where lots of underage drinking takes place. Someone that is 18 and older can get into some clubs where they are getting drinks even though they are not supposed to. There is a level of responsibility they needs to be taken when people are drinking. They should know how to handle themselves when alcohol is in their system. Consuming too many alcoholic beverages can cause health issues, behavior issues, and have other harmful effects on a person. The issues that come along with drinking alcohol will affect teenagers and college students more than it would affect someone that is 21 or older. The minimum drinking age law should remain at 21 to keep more young adults from encountering issues associated with drinking. Young adults that are in the age range of 18 20 are more likely to be more reckless than someone who is older and more mature. Adolescents hit the age of 18 and feel like they are grown and finally able to do what they want to do. Some have already started drinking alcohol and will start to drink it more frequently. Having alcohol in their systems will cause their behavior to change and could affect their rationale of thinking. Their senses will be affected as well which causes more accidental injuries, altercations, and driving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One day, as she was picking flowers in her field, her uncle, Hades, saw her and instantly fell in love with her. Hades decided to kidnap Persephone and took her to the underworld, where he was the god. He locked her in the Hall of Hades, where Persephone wept endlessly. There is a legend that says that if you eat anything in Hades lair, you can never leave. Persephone didn t want to risk being stuck in hell for the rest of her life, so she didn t eat. This lasted for a week, until she could no longer bear the hunger; Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds and life in the underworld began to feel permanent. In the intro to the story it mentions something very important about Zeus wife (and sister), Demeter. Her job of growing the crops was of the utmost importance if she was happy, her crops would grow abundantly, but, if she was sad, her crops would wither and die. The people would begin to starve. The other gods, demigods, and even mortals would strive to keep her happy. What made Demeter most happy was spending time with her daughter, Persephone. So when Persephone was kidnapped, Demeter was devastated; and the crops began to die. The amount of water saturation plays a tremendous role in determining soil development and the wildlife communities interacting with it, both terrestrial and aquatic. Abiotic and biotic factors such as topography, climate, vegetation, and human disturbance give way to a wide variety of wetlands, but for the most part can be generalized into two main categories. K strategists are defined as long lived individuals with a low reproductive and growth rate. Offspring are produced in low numbers with high survival rates, and typically require parental care in their juvenile years. Alternatively, r strategists are short lived and give birth to many offspring at a time with low survival rates. Minimal parental care is required, as caring for so many would over exert the parents. The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers, doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole. To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint. Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected children, and vaccine coverage. • 27. The Idea Of Contyping In The Real Ones By Jo Crayola Does accepting one s femininity mean having to put on a dress and wear makeup? Does expressing one s femininity mean having to get married, have babies and looking after the children and their husbands at home? The women today can be so much more without losing their feminism. There was a time when men are to hunt and gather food while women stayed at home and cooked and give birth and look after the children. Nowadays, women are as educated as the men and are able to hold any position that had been reserved for men. Women today are politicians, leaders of countries, professionals and even combat soldiers. Thus, they have proven that they are equal to any tasks. The only reason why they are lacking is probably because of social stereotyping. This is the reason why it is particularly important to empower femininity. It is easy to ridicule the idea of empowering femininity is because society already hold negative attitudes toward anything considered feminine. The poem The Real Ones by Jo Crayola cannot be too far off from reality when describing how society perceived a real woman or mother should be and how she should conduct herself. A female can only be considered as feminine if she does not wear a tattoo, grown a lap, and a husband and a hairless armpit . It is imperative that the world should move beyond this stereotyping to dismiss and demean feminine gender expression, and to truly recognise women for who they are. In the pharmacokinetics aspect, prednisolone is mainly dependent on two characteristics; dosage and age. Based on how the drug is bound in the plasma, the distribution of the drug can be determined. A high dosage of prednisolone leads to an increase in the volume of distributed drug. This is due to the non linear binding of the drug. It is recommended for patients with other disorders to lower their dosage intake of prednisolone (LinkSpringer). The half life of prednisolone differs in accordance to age; the half life in children being the shortest. A common issue with patients who take prednisolone drugs is that the levels of serum binding proteins are low in the patients blood. This is known as hypoalbuminaemia. The serum binding proteins are important in that they allow the drug to bind for it to take effect. If a patient were to take oral contraceptives whilst on the prednisolone drugs, it would decrease the half life and the volume of drug distributed. This would be as a result of high levels of corticosteroids (LinkSpringer). This is largely in part due to the observation that the Emergency Department is often the most frequently visited department of the acute care hospital that many patients will ever receive care from (Falcone, 2013). The Emergency Departments function by its design is to fulfill a healthcare organizations obligation of providing care during episodes of acute, severe injuries or illnesses. This function at times can be one that requires a unique workflow to be present within the department. Adding to the required tasks needed to fulfill this obligation, is also a large patient population who utilizes the emergency departments resources for non acute and/or chronic medical conditions that are best classified as non emergent in nature. Nonetheless, the Emergency Departments of healthcare organizations who are participant s in Medicare and Medicaid, must balance the allocation and utilization of their resources to accommodate both these acute and non acute patients within the guidelines that have been set forth by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services or CMS. In addition to this requirement, other regulations such as the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) stipulate that under certain pre defined medical conditions , Emergency Departments are required to provide a standard of care which can include ensuring that an ...
