What are Preterm Labor and Premature Birth?
A normal pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks after the first day of the last period. Going into labor before
37 weeks of pregnancy is known as preterm labor and Babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy are
called premature babies.
Signs of premature labour
About one baby in every 13 will be born prematurely. Premature delivery is the birth before the 37th
week of pregnancy. In most cases labour starts by itself, and the signs will usually be the same as
labour that starts at full term. The signs could be:

Complications in the baby
If your baby is born too soon, there is a good chance that his or her lungs will be underdeveloped. If
so, he or she will need to be put onto a ventilator to help with breathing.Your baby may also have
trouble maintaining a normal body temperature and will need to be kept warm. If your baby is born
too early to suck and swallow, he or she will have to be fed through a needle in a vein or through a
tube passed through the nose and throat into the stomach.
What causes Preterm Labor?
Medical science doesn t completely understand why some women go into labor or break their water
early. In some cases, an infection may be involved while in others, it may be an abnormally short
cervix or a combination of factors. In about half of all cases, there is no known cause. The main risk of
preterm labor is if the mother having had a preterm birth before.
Other risk factors include:
Carrying more than one baby
Abnormally shaped uterus or an abnormal cervix
Age younger than 17 or older than 35

Resaldo realizes that by including personal events he may come out sounding less professional.
However, I feel it is more professional [especially to this discipline] to be honest about how one
concludes regarding an aspect of culture. His acknowledgment of the natural emotions that surround
rituals gives the reader a more comprehensive and complete account of events. To leave out such

I feel it is worth the use of personal events to base explanations on even when the risk looked down

Behar addresses the critics of reflexive anthropology who think that because personal experience
cannot always be believed or seen as factual (Behar: p.169). Scott Michaelson and David Johnson are
her two targets in the speech she has included in her writings. She argues that though Michaelson and
Johnson impose their critique of Resaldo s vulnerability and discussing his feelings regarding his wife
s death, they never make themselves vulnerable (p.169). The vulnerable state that Resaldo put himself
in by telling the way in which his wife died and how it effected him does not

Poverty In George Jurgis s The Jungle
In the book The Jungle there are many different themes, moods, and political views. One of the major
themes in this book is that most people are poor. They don t have a whole lot they squeeze by on
taxes, and some don t even have homes. Most don t even have enough money to eat every day. Then
to go along with being in poverty their moods are just depressed, sad, and gloomy. In the book things
would start turning for the better, then something tragic would happen. In the book there is a lot
politics going on the author tried to push socialism, but by showing what went on in the meat industry,
it made people put in health codes. In the book The Jungle a majority of the people that live in
packingtown live in poverty. They don t really have a steady job that pays well enough to get out of
debt or get nice things. The whole town is really dishonest, you can t trust anyone. It s really everyone
for themselves and to help their calamity s turn to a life of crime. They steal from businesses and pick
pocket people. These people that do this, were once nice people that believed they could make it in
America and become rich, but then reality started to set in so they had to do things to just scrape by.
Jurgis the main character, when he came to America he believed he could become rich and be a
millionaire, but he soon realized its not easy and he s going to have to work hard. Even doing that still
didn t get him where he wanted to be so he had to take odd jobs to get extra income, by doing this he
became dishonest. The name of the book basically explains what life is in packingtown. Either you eat
or be eaten, you do what you have to do to better yourself. Most people don t survive in this town
because of harsh working conditions, low pay, high debt, but one major theme that summarizes the
whole town except the greedy bosses are poor no one really has a whole lot. People barely scrape by
on taxes and debt. They have a home, but it isn t a at least a decent home. Jugis s house had really bad
floors there was a sewage system right under them. Then to go along with that during the winter the
heater wasn t very big so they had to wear coats. The family was always depressed, so Jurgis would

Compare And Contrast Hyde And Frankenstein
Dantès is also shown to be similar to Frankenstein and Jekyll, in that the three are unable to escape
from their creations. Dantès and Jekyll are trapped more so than Frankenstein, as they are the same
person as their creations, whereas Frankenstein is trapped by being unable to bring himself to create a
female creature due to the effect it may have on society. Frankenstein s identity is called into question
here, as he becomes almost defined, in the Creature s eyes, as being unable to keep his word. The
Creature s words show a parallel between himself and Hyde and Frankenstein and Jekyll: You are my

When Dantès is imprisoned, he loses his name, Hyde is known solely by his appearance, and the
Creature is never given a name. This contrasts with the socially accepted Monte Cristo, Henry Jekyll
and Victor Frankenstein. Their names allow them to be accepted by, not forgotten about, shunned, or
left incapable of joining, society. Unlike Hyde and Dantès, the Creature is never named. He is
constantly referred to as a creature and a miserable fiend. This mainly comes through Frankenstein s
point of view, which suggests that the Creature s monstrousness stems from Frankenstein s
perceptions of him and the way he is originally presented to the reader. Had the novel been written
from his point of view, it can be suggested that the Creature would not be viewed as such a monster by
society, and readers would have more sympathy for him. The absence causes him to be dehumanised
in a similar way to Dantès, who is renamed Number 34. Hyde, however, is named, allowing Jekyll s
view of his alter ego being natural and human to be more accepted by society. Hyde s naturalness can
said to be due to his evilness as he represents the original sin found inside all of us. Dantès and the
Creature are shunned by society when they are without a name because they are distanced from
society. Whilst Dantès distance is literal as he has been taken away from Marseille, the Creature s
distance remains figurative he follows Frankenstein and is in fact very close to society. His distance
stems from his hideousness and the absence of a name to introduce himself by. He is left to forge his
own identity which comes as an incredibly hard task. Modern readers have felt sympathy for the
Creature in his struggle to be accepted: Shelley s use of his point of view in the novel aids this,
however at the time of writing, readers generally viewed the Creature as a
