MTS - Variant Configuration Overview
➢In Make to stock product is manufactured without reference to sales order.
➢Let's take an example of car manufacturing process, they have already created their standard variant & they
use to manufacture the product and keep it in stock & business is not waiting for customer to place an order
why because this is more saleable Variant/Product.
➢ Production is done based upon forecast of the saleable Variant/Product .
➢ Similarly in our case, FG_Pavilion1 variant is a combination of 16GB, 512GB, CoreI7, Silver colour and this
variant is more saleable variant/ Product, which is shown in page number 3.
➢Requirement type for MTS is LSF & PIR requirement class is 100.
➢Requirement type KEK is determined for strategy 25 and also item category TAC.

FG_Pavilion1 variant is a combination of 16GB, 512GB, CoreI7, Silver.
Variant Material
Configurable Material

Difference between Class Type - 200 & Class Type - 300
➢ Class 200 and 300 are both defined for the materials.
➢ Class 300 is mainly used for a variant material used for variant configuration.
➢ We can also classify materials under class 200 which do not have to be configurable materials, but allows to use
the defined characteristics and restrict the usage for a specific purpose.
➢ Class type 200 is for classes that are used as class items in bills of material.
➢ Class type 300 is for variant configuration.

Make to Stock – Variant Configuration
Step 1 :- Create a material (Variant material) “FG_Pavilion1” (FERT) & In MRP 3 view we need to assign
configurable material i.e. (FG_Pavilion - KMAT) and also define characteristics values – MM01
Step 2 :- Create link to configurable material and assign variant to configurable material - CS40.
Step 3 :- Change Routings and assign variant to configurable material – CA02.
Step 4 :- Create Production version – C223 / MM02.
Step 5 :- Create Material Cost estimate – CK11N.
Step 6 :- Costing Run – CK24.
Step 7 :- Planned independent requirements – MD61
Step 8 :- MRP Run – MD02 / MD01N.
Step 9 :- Convert Planned order to Production order & release of production order – MD04.
Step 10:- Goods issue, confirmation & Goods receipt of production order –CO15.

Choose respective values i.e. RAM_16GB, HDD_512GB, COREI7, SILVER_COLOUR.

Costing2
Material FG_PAVILION1 (Variant Material )created.

Step 2 :- Create link to configurable material and assign variant to configurable material - CS40.

Create link to configurable material and assign variant to configurable material
Save it.

Step 3 :- Change Routings and assign variant to configurable material – CA02.
Routing Header Details
Enter configurable material and go to header
details and assign variant material.

Change Routings and assign variant to configurable material.
Routing was saved with group 50001160 and material FG_PAVILION.

Step 4 :- Create Production version – C223 / MM02.

Save it

Step 5 :- Create Material Cost estimate – CK11N.

Click on Enter

Create Material Cost estimate

Step 6 :- Costing Run – CK24.
