SAVE SEA, SAVE TURTLE
Introduction
Tai Muang Beach is a beautiful beach in Pang Nga. It is a tourist
destination and a great area for fishery, because there are many kind
of fishes living there in the clean sea with the almost perfect coral
reef. These reasons, it attracts many tourists and they want to go
there to relax, walk, diving etc.
The activity is about developing the environment in Tai Muang Beach
and it takes place every year , and the goal of the activity is to save
the environment and to encourage people to think green, also to
follow the Queen idea to celebrate her birthday every year.
Background
This program is designed to restore and preserve the environment by the
initiative of the Queen Sirikit. She has resources and a marine caring heart, she
realized that Thailand's sea resources at these days are shortening and there are
several animal species close to extinction; sea turtles and giant clams. Bow to
the Queen and the Department of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Phang Nga and
Department of Marine and Coastal 5. Their collaboration is the key thing in
developing this event every year and to take care of the area in Tai Muang
Beach.
Objective
➢ To interview people who join activity and to find ways to develop the
activity.
➢ To get the information about their attitudes about to safe the environment.
Background & Objective

on the beach and old nets from the sea that have come from fishery.
Population of sea turtle declining- Because the impact of "ignorance" of the
fisher men that don’t realize their behavior and actions affect negatively for the
sea. This is one of the major reasons that have affected to start “The Save Sea,
Save Turtle activity” To give fisher men knowledge and information about these
kind of things.

Input
•To restore and improve the environment around Tai Muang Beach and to
develop “The Save Sea, Save Sea Turtle-activity “ to get more attraction.
Proces
s
•Connect with workers in the Department of Marine and Coastal 5 and to
communicate about environmental problems in the area..
•To survey the area of Tai Muang Beach and to interview people around there.
•Evaluation.
Output
•To make understanding between the government organizer and the
participators in the event for the future.
•Understand the information about their attitudes towards the safety of the
environment.
Internal:
Time
Members of our group had different schedules so it was quite hard to set an
appointment, so we used social media as a meeting place. But there were also some
problems sharing information because some of the members did not check the
messages on time.
Evaluation
We wanted to make some improvement to our evaluation process so we did focus to
ask about the activity “Save sea save turtle”. There are three questions that we were
focus to ask about the activity; questions 6, 8 and 10. However, in every question that
we created we were focused on community based sustainable tourism.
Problems during operating activities
External problem
Nationality
The members of our group have a different nationalities; Thai, Chinese and Finnish.
We did not have many problems about understanding each other. Although, it was
hard to understand what was going on when doing the activity because they did not
understand Thai language and the ceremonies were not in English. Also they could
not connect with the government officers because of that.
Video
We used camera when interviewed people, but there was annoying sound in the
background so we could not hear clearly what the interviewee said. There was also a
strong wind so it made harder to hear what people said so we had to listen the tapes
many times when we were processing them.
We notice that the problem was in the activity. Almost all of causes are done
by the people and particularly by the local fishermen, so we should try to
prevent the problem not try to fix it afterwards. It would be much more
effective and easier to prevent the problem instead of trying to repair the
damage subsequent.
Next time we should focus doing campaign which would make people to
understand why we have to save environment and how every individual can
adopt an environmentally friendly way of life in their everyday life.

Summary
The result of interviewing the people in the activity.
We had different groups of participators which were: 5 students, 5 fishermen. 5 divers, and 5
government officers.
The interview says that people are the biggest polluters of the environment
as well as they have the biggest impact on solving the environmental issues in
the future.
Government should support the campaigns and take the sea turtle problems
more seriously. They do not seem to care about what the fishermen are doing
at sea, for example catching fishes in areas where it is not allowed.
Everyone has a responsibility to preserve the environment and that if
everyone would work for it there would be better and cleaner beaches with
different animals in the sea and outside from it.
Thank you
