- 2. The Milky Way is our galaxy. This is a picture of the Milky Way taken from Earth.
- 3. This is a picture of the Sun in the Milky Way. The Sun is the center of the Solar System.
- 4. The Solar System is where our planet is. There is no other planet with (comfirmed) life around here. (is a Dwarf Planet)
- 5. In the past people thought that the Earth was flat and that it had edges, and you could fall if you advanced too far into the extreme of the Earth.
- 6. And other people believed that volcanoes erupted or the Earth moved beacuse their Gods were angry.
- 7. Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) thought that the Earth was the center of the Universe. Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) proposed that the Sun was the center of the Universe, not the Earth. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) improved the telescope and used it to confirm his idea that the Earth and other planets revolved around the Sun.
- 8. In 1946 the Space Age began. USA and Russia started a race to see which country could send the first person into space.
- 9. 7. Basement In November 3rd, 1957 Laika was the first living being who traveled into space on the Sputnik II.
