Screenless display is an evolving technology that allows information to be displayed without the use of a traditional screen. It has the goal of transmitting visual information using things like retinal projection, synaptic interfaces, or light projected through the air. Several patents are currently working on emerging screenless display technologies that could fundamentally change how visual information is consumed. The first notable screenless display was Google Glass, but the technology is still in early stages. Screenless displays may eventually be incorporated into contact lenses or transparent eyeglass patches to provide more natural viewing experiences.
