Our task was to create a music promotional package for our band; 'Mazzy Star' and their song 'Into Dust', taken from their most successful album 'So tonight that I might see'. To create a brand identity across our package we had to ensure the three products had the same iconography. If numerous examples of the three products were thrown together, the consistency of our house style should allow our work to stand out.   The script for my audio:
To maintain this consistency of house styles through all three platforms we;  -1. Used the same desaturated colour scheme throughout. -1. Our page layouts for the digi-pak and magazine both consisted of overlays of images. This also emulated the overlay editing effects we used in our video and together the iconography of our genre ran throughout. -1. The softness we created within our video was due to the consistent use of cross dissolves. We continued this softness through our advert and digi-pak by playing with the transparency and outer glow around the images, ensuring they gently blended together.
To maintain a tangible link between the three media products we; -1. Used still frame grabs from our video and used them in our magazine advert and also our digi-pak. This was effective as the audience would easily relate the video to the other products as they would recognise the images. -1. The main singer in our video was also the central character of our other products. This ensured a consistency throughout the three platforms.
Although we didn't create a logo as such i feel we created a 'symbolism' for the song. The desaturated colour effect is our 'logo' as such, that brands the product across all three platforms. This connection suited the demanding expectations of our niche audience. We felt they would expect the tranquil and calm nature of the video to continue through the two other platforms so the bands symbolism could be recognised in all forms, anywhere they were.
