Broadland Economy Update • Read the full report from page 14 here • The team continue to work with local businesses to help them access vital funding • Broadland Business Breakfasts continue to be a huge success • Working with Norfolk County Council to deliver Norwich Area Manufacturing Group. Several interconnections with the help of this group • Broadly Active continues to thrive • Apprenticeships Broadland launched their new website. The team have effectively responded to OFSTED feedback
- 3. • A concern was raised regarding leasing of Rackheath Cube and assurances given by the Officers: • The space has been leased to a local business under a partnership arrangement with several other bodies. • Back rent will be collected upon signing of the lease which was imminent. • Arrangements to rent the ground floor space are underway and should by resolved by the end of May 2016

New Anglia LEP • Read the full report from page 18 here • Economic Success Panel have reviewed the relationship between Broadland District Council and New Anglia • There are 10 more enterprise zones within New Anglia’s area. The nearest to Broadland is Scottow • The council is represented on the Board as a Local Authority member • Ability to withdraw funds are working very well for Broadland businesses
- 5. • EU funding is accessible via New Anglia otherwise not accessible via the Council. Impacts of leaving the EU is unclear but is regularly discussed between partners and at New Anglia LEP meetings • Broadland have dedicated Growth Advisors who work to ensure Broadland businesses have access and support to the grant funding process

Broadland Apprenticeships • Read the full report from page 24 here • Questions previously raised by the Committee were answered within the report satisfactorily. • Councillors challenged the costs per apprentice and understood the difference of partners operating in an academic year compared to the council’s financial year which explained why figures were as yet unavailable. • Committee requested a tour of the Carrowbreck Training Centre.
- 7. Scrutiny Annual Report • Read the full Annual Report from page 29 here • Committee made one amendment to the report which will now be presented to Council for endorsement
- 8. Committee Work Programme • Committee accepted a change of date of a future report • Councillors outlined subjects to be included on the next work programme – Understanding Council financial accounts and the Budget Book • Committee agreed a date for their work programme setting workshop in May. Councillors made aware that Parish and Town Council’s have been consulted on potential topics
