Abstract The Sculpture Collection includes materials on the sculptors presently on the grounds of Bergen Community College, the sculptors, and the sculptures exhibit they came from. Size Four boxes Location Sidney Silverman Library Archive Bergen Community College Paramus, NJ Language of materials English Historical Note The Sculpture Collection was originally displayed as an exhibit in Van Saun Park, titled “Sculptures in the Park” organized by the New Jersey Cultural Council. There were two exhibitions, the first in 1971 and the second in 1974. After a rash of vandalisms, the New Jersey Cultural Council asked Bergen Community College to host some of the sculptors. In 1974 a number of sculptures were moved onto the campus of Bergen Community College, some of them being temporary and some of them being permanently placed on the campus of Bergen Community College. Scope and Content of the Collection The Sculpture Collection contains materials from the two exhibits at Van Saun Park (1971 & 1974); which includes the brochures, correspondences, maps, news clippings, and posters. In addition, the collection includes materials regarding the placement of various sculptures on the campus of Bergen Community College, such as correspondences, maps, news clippings, notes, photographs, press releases, and information about the sculptures and the sculptors. The works on the Bergen Community College campus include Carol Bacon (Two in One), Joseph Calabrese (Dominos), Peter Forakis (Unreflector), Albert Gross (Curved Obelisk), Forrest Myers (Polelock), Richard Shore (Updownstairs), Eric Snowden (Black & Red), Peter Tilnger (Cloud Gate), Odell Prather (Untitled), Max Soler (The Couple), Derrick Woodham (Gates).
