- 2. What is a CAT tool… CAT is an acronym standing for Computer Assisted Translation . It is a software which allows to store in a data base original texts in one language, aligned with their translation in one or more other languages.
- 3. … and what is it for? Wordcount, obtained by comparing the contents of a document with the contents of the data base. Together with a word processor, it allows to use extisting translations in the data base as suggestions for a new translation.
