I think this is a mindset I’m trying to promote in our school so people will try to infuse
technology and be innovative ie. the usual answer is “yes let’s ﬁgure this out”. Business as
unusual?

ipad, making movies modifying fairy tales

own devices,

mobile laptops, in our middle years

netbooks, in our early years

or in the computer lab

our discussions about technology infusion center around an inquiry stance

Literacy With ICT
brief overview of the continnuum Inquiry, gather and make sense and produce and show
understanding

if we think of the Literacy with ICT continuum - give everyone a copy of this to read later,
put poster on wall

discuss the difference between ICT literacy (the back of the poster) and Literacy with ICT
(what i”m talking about now)

Cheri to Skype in here and talk about “Perspectives of a new administrator.” Cheri has been
vice principal of Buchanan school for 2 years. I have asked her to share her insights of her
experiences to date.

Mike to Skype in here. Mike is a professor with the Faculty of Education at Brandon U and was
formerly principal in Boissevane. I’ve asked Mike to share with us regarding what he knows
now of the social media space, what he may have done differently as principal

Lisa to Skype in here. Lisa is a principal in Hamilton, Ontario. I’ve asked Lisa to share with us
some ideas about visible leadership and why being a connected leader matters.

with ICT, and using technology to support the ideas. My role is to foster the relationships,
shape the pedagogy (through ongoing discussion), and suggest /negotiate which
technologies can assist

for our purposes substitute administrator for teacher... ie. the networked administrator
today we still have curriculum docs, colleagues, popular media, print and digital resources,
and family/local community to help us be excellent administrators

and

and to help us do the job of being a principal / vice principal

but if we refocus on relationship building

generally we think of these 2 as the main ways to build relationships with other
administrators and teachers

I’m suggesting there is a 3rd key component, that being twitter

so for the rest of today’s session we are focusing on twitter as one key way to enhance your
Personal Learning Network

Before we look at how to develop your PLN let’s look at other things you can do with twitter

It’s not just what am I doing........
although the original idea of twitter was to replicate the status update bar of facebook,
look what happens when you give a tool to a bunch of creative teachers
who want to constantly reﬁne their craft
and get better at what they do....
