Now… the future?
We must remember…
The boundary between ‘real life’ and
      ‘online’ has disappeared for the
          majority of our students

students today will be remote workers, people
working in a flexible arrangement from home,
where the lines are blurred between what is
working hours and what is downtime.

JUST REMEMBER
            Pedagogy
            Pedagogy
            Pedagogy

Good teaching practice is what really
             matters!
So what does that require?
    Especially with current technologies
Staff Professional Development
• The integration of ICT in the classroom
requires time and effort by the teacher.
• From my personal experience teachers are
neither given the time, nor the appropriate
  training.
• So here are some ideas to begin your training
  process.
Tech Brekkies
The idea is to have a quick half hour catch up on
tools, tips and tricks in Information and
Communication Technologies and good teaching
pedagogy.

Twenty-20
The microkeynoting of the keynote world
Twenty-20
The twenty-20 challenge is an idea to have
members present 5 minute keynote
presentations with the use of pictures and
minimal text and be given 20-30 seconds per
slide.

                  http://www.flickr.com/photos/63227032@N00
Speed-Geeking
Speed-Geeking is a bit like “Speed-Dating” and
involves members with a skill in a particular ICT
tool providing small group training and given
just 5 minutes to get this done.

In the history of
     innovation, the
 "revolutionary" approach often
fails, because it doesn’t take the
   human factor into account.
This session is aimed at you, providing
        ideas for an ICT toolbox
           • Organisation
           • Support
           • Communication

What is a PLN?
PLN is an acronym for Personal Learning Network.

Teachers have always had learning networks.
Previously they included teachers in your
school, old workmates, a few colleagues from
University and maybe a number of presenters at
workshops (like Future Science) you had
attended. We learn from these people and we
share with them also.
What is a PLN?
Your PLN no longer needs to include only those
who you can physically “catch-up” with. You do
not even need to have met these people. But
these people can be all be a source for your
professional development.
What is a PLN?

Let’s start with twitter
• If you haven’t already sent a tweet today
maybe you could try. Share what you have
learnt or how you are feeling.
• If you haven’t got an account, it is easy to sign
  up www.twitter.com

Eg. “Presenting an ICT toolkit for teachers, not
enough time to cover it all… refer to

can happen here also.
Moodle
One tool
There are others that are very effective
              Evernote
             Simplenote
             Google docs

I use Evernote for many of my notes due to its
easiness to sync across all my devices.
The reason I love it
      and recommend it
 is the pen input software.

NOTHING ELSE MATCHES IT!

Editor's Notes

  • #4: Education evolution
  • #9: So we have added computers to the environment. How has the setting of this room changed? It is still a lecture style with students sitting in rows.
  • #21: The idea of this is to provide a mini keynote presentation. The rules are you must only use pictures with minimal text. You have a maximum of 20 slides.Slides stay up on the screen for a certain time frame.
