SECTION FIVE OF THE
EVALUATION
WHAT DID WE INCLUDE IN THE FILM
WHICH WOULD INTRIGUE OUR
AUDIENCE?
• Some post-apocalyptic films such as 28 Days later, which is a very popular post-apocalyptic
film, does include a ‘flash back’. At the beginning of 28 Days Later there is a scene of rioting
which is then shown to be playing on a TV screen showing that that is what has already
happened. This is similar to our film as we have included a news report declaring that there
is now a law for DNA samples to be mandatory. This is initially a flashback as most of the
film is about how the survivors are fighting to survive after the law had been passed.
(Photographs from our film on the next slide). The transition to show that it is a flashback is
a dissolve. The dissolve also highlights a passage of time.
• Additionally, we included point of view shots from the killer clone which tries to kill Boris and
seems to have succeeded. We intended to make the audience feel quite on edge as they can
see how close the clone is to Boris, Jim and Nicola. Therefore, the audience will also feel
scared for the survivors as the audience knows where the clone is, but the survivors don’t.
This breaks the linear plot of the film for a few seconds, however the rest of the plot is linear.

AT WHICH PARTS WERE THE AUDIENCE
MEANT TO MAKE A SERIOUS
EMOTIONAL CHANGE?
• At the news report scene we wanted to
grip the audience as they soon realise that
the law is real and it has been confirmed,
making the situation seem more real.
However, when the news reporter on the
right , Chris, get rugby tackled, we wanted
the audience to find that part quite funny,
as Chris seems un-professional whereas
Morgan , the news reporter to the left,
seems professional. This results in the
situation’s formality being debatable,
meaning that when Chris gets attacked,
the audience just might find it funny as it is
surprising. When we showed some of our
target audience the clip, here were how
the audience responded to Chris getting
attacked.
• Most of the audience found the surprise
attack funny, which was our intended
response.

OVERALL RESPONSE BY THE
AUDIENCE
• Overall, the audience stated that the film was quite confusing but once they had
watched it and once we gave them the plot to read, they understood what was
happening.
