- 2. ๏ฝ Chosen research topic ๏ฝ Made contact with supervisor ๏ฝ Finished your introduction ๏ฝ ( due 26th January) ๏ฝ Have research design in place ๏ฝ Ideally collected data...or plan to in the next month
- 3. ๏ฝ If you havenโt already, read over the project manual ๏ฝ Gives good advice on how to structure thesis (e.g. what introduction should cover) ๏ฝ Gives marking scheme for thesis etc.
- 4. ๏ฝ To support and assist in your data analysis ๏ฝ Will cover general issues in relation to research projects ๏ฝ Note: for more specific questions you should contact your supervisor
- 5. ๏ฝ Will be taking a semi-structured approach ๏ฝ For next few weeks we will deal with key issues in data entry and analysis ๏ฝ Brief refresher of spss skills ๏ฝ For bulk of class, you will work on your own project and have an opportunity to ask questions
- 6. ๏ฝ Setting up a data file and entering your data โฆ E.g. Understanding differences between scale, nominal and ordinal data โฆ Labelling of variables ๏ฝ Recoding and computing of variables ๏ฝ Carrying out descriptive statistics โฆ Frequencies, mean, SD etc.
- 7. ๏ฝ Basic inferential statistics โฆ Correlations โฆ Independent and dependent t-tests โฆ ANOVAs (one-way) โฆ Regression ๏ฝ It must be your own analysis, this is your project, not your supervisorโs.
