Self-Service Check-in at Hotels and Motels
Introduction Self service will help to solve most problems in hotels. The software would be programmed to operate properly It would help reduce frustration in customers that are kept waiting. It would also lessen the work load on the employees, giving them time to greet and welcome the guest properly.
Technological Gaps There are currently no technological gaps Because few of the machines have been tried in various hotels. The machine has not yet been well distributed across the UK. The machine doesn't yet have a passport scanner or an identification recognition software. The identification of the customers will have to be done by a member of staff.
Services That Could be Delivered it would have a face everyone’s mother can love Visual presentation of the room. Ability to print out key cards after the room has been paid for. It would offer the guest control, choice and convenience. Discounts for customers, such as student discounts would be available.
Peoples Reactions Most guest found it fascinating, and enjoyed using it. Older guest found it hard to operate and preferred using the usual check inn system The staffs in the hotel grew to love it Fear of unemployment
What is Biometrics? `An automated method of recognizing a person based on a physiological or behavioural characteristic – National Science & Technology Council
Why Biometrics? Increased Security Reduced Identity Theft Lower Bank Machine Crime Eradicate Scams Increased police efficiency Better Consumer Environment
The Future Multi Recognition Systems Replace Personal Identification Reduced Crime Greater Consumer Safety Positive Experience

Benefits To The Customer: Cheaper then owning your own car. Don ’ t have to worry about the price for fuel. Clean form of transport with zero carbon footprint. Less parking fees. No need to maintain your own car. Means you don ’ t need a garage or free parking space at the costumer ’ s home.
Benefits To The Company: Less maintenance. Cycle recharging means that the car will be fully recharged for next user. Power to recharge the cars will be produced on site. Be able to track cars. No staff will have to be on site to run the service. At only one single site the service will only take up between 2 and 4 parking spaces, meaning less ground having to be purchased or rented in cities.
Robotic-Technology: The use of a moving platform to take the car to the costumer. After the costumer finishes at the kiosk, the car will be disconnected from the on-site power source and provided for the customer, unlocked and ready to go. Robotically driven to the costumer. After the costumer has arranged to use a car from the service, the robotic technology will be able to drive that car, under its own power to that person.
Public’s Reception and The Reaction From Users: They’ll benefit from the cheaper car rental and the benefit of using a 100% electric powered car. What Technology Gaps Presently Exist? Currently there isn ’ t anyway to produce enough clean energy at the individual sites to maintain the up keep of 4 cars. The technology is still being developed to be able to control cars remotely or by Artificial Intelligence – A.I.
