What is Twitter? Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets.  Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers.  Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access.  Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications.
Some uses for Twitter Post questions for quick answers and answer others’ questions to establish your credibility and expertise Create links to your Web site or blog Keep up on the buzz in your industry Network with like-minded people.
Twitter is about conversations Don’t just post what you are doing Don’t be “spammy” Reply to people Ask engaging questions Provide answers Create conversations
Answer the Question(s)  "How can you be helpful?" "What's got your attention and why?" "What's interesting, or funny, of valuable that you can link to?" "What's cool?" "What's frustrating?"

Creating a Twitter Account When creating your username, it is best to use your name (or some variation),  not a company name. People like to connect with People.
Creating a Twitter Account You can load contacts from you Gmail, Yahoo or AOL account if you wish.
Creating a Twitter Account Twitter will recommend people/celebrities to you. You can skip this step as well.

Twitter Picture One of the BIGGEST mistakes you can make on Twitter is not loading a photo.
Twitter Background Do NOT use any of Twitter’s standard backgrounds Now is the time to let your brand shine! There are free sites that will help you create a background: http://www.twitterbackgrounds.com
