Dynamic variations in white and colored light can
help maintain the patient’s circadian rhythm,
which maintain normal sleep patterns and may
optimize therapeutic efficacy.
• In the morning, short wavelengths of blue light cue the body
to produce Cortisol, Serotonin and other hormones and
neurotransmitters that cause blood pressure to increase and
body temperature to rise.
• In the evening, the body responds to darkness and longer
wavelengths of red light by producing the hormone Melatonin
and dropping the blood pressure in preparation for sleep.
CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS
• Slips and falls are a leading cause of unintentional
injury in the US. Which can lead to increased patient
stay duration and possible lawsuits.
• Incidents can be avoided by proper night lighting
and locating switches within reach or on touch or
occupancy sensors.
• Use Amber to Red light for night lighting.
