Siftables are small physical objects that can sense each other and interact with nearby computers. They were developed in 2007 as a projection or augmented tabletop system. The siftables, which measure 36mm by 36mm by 10mm, can be used for activities like categorizing photos, storytelling, color mixing, arithmetic, and word games through physical manipulation on a surface. Some challenges to the technology include developing richer input/output capabilities, an interaction language, and reducing costs.
