Embedded BW on S/4HANA What is Embedded BW? - It’s automatically included in SAP ERP since SAP NW 7.0. - It supports all BW native functionality including BPC processes. - It’s used to support certain business processes on SAP S/4 HANA. e.g. SAP BPC Optimized for S/4 HANA Finance (formerly Integrated Business Planning for Finance), using SAP BPC Specific Use Cases and Recommendations - Embedded BW is not intended as an alternative to a Enterprise Data Warehouse. - The amount of data persisted should not exceed 20% of the overall data volume of the system. - Extraction from own S/4 HANA system - Integration of data from external applications - Data from planning applications - License implications - BPC requires a seperate license - Security and Authorizations - Embedded BW relies on a seperate authorization concept. Authorizations from S/4HANA do not apply but need to be mapped if required. - Client Distribution - For organizational reasons and development purposes SAP recommends to use a dedicated client for Embedded BW.
