- 5. The children will begin to push the limits to see what they can get away with. By breaking the rules or pushing the limits your child is seeing how you react to them. CHARACTERISTICS 2 to 3 years old are rigid and inflexible. They are extremely domineering and demanding. 2 to 3 is an age of violent emotions. It is an age of opposite extremes. Another characteristic of this is age is preservation.

Play parade or follow the leader with your toddler. 4. Help your child to explore things around her by taking her on a walk or wagon ride. 5. Encourage your child to tell you his name and age. 6. Teach your child simple songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider, or other cultural childhood rhymes. 7. Give your child attention and praise when she follows instructions and shows positive behavior and limit attention for defiant behavior like tantrums.
