- 2. Use Of Slideshare • Is a website that can be used to share slideshows to others using the internet • Is a way for other people to look at different slideshows based on the subject of the slideshow

- 4. Positives of Website • Can share your slideshows that you did with others using the web Can look at other slideshows based on topic to see what others have done on that topic • Great tool for teachers to use to share ideas with one another
- 5. Negatives on Website • Can not make corrections to the slideshow once done There is no video/ voice recording for the website • You can only upload the slideshow you have already done You can not directly collaborate with someone using this tool
- 6. Research • According to Johanna Riddle, “If it blips, bleeps, or talks to them, they know what to do with it”. This being said, teachers need to learn what to do with it also. She go on to say that new teachers know how to use technology but they need to know how to use it as a tool not a toy. • She also explains that students are very invested in getting their ideas across and will use a range of formats to do this. – By using slideshare, teachers can use this technology as a tool to have students put up their presentations and also find other beneficial ones to look at. They can look up different presentations by subject and view how other people present their ideas.
- 7. Research continued • Kelly Gallagher is concerned that we are making students jump through hoops just to pass the test. In doing so, the students don’t have a “vision” of what going on in the real world. The key is to bring in real world text so that students can relate to them and be able to write about them. • With slideshare, the students can read these texts and make a short presentation of what they have read and share it with the class. It is an easy step to give them a vision of what is happening in the world and connect it to themselves.

Research continued • According to the vodcast on New Literacies of Internet, students need to learn how to use new and upcoming technology. “Their futures are going to be defined by their ability to read, write, and communicate within network information environments.” • Most uses for the internet are to get information. You will get higher engagement and motivation from students when they are taught and expected to use the internet. – One way slideshare can help with this process is the fact that students can look up certain information and be able to see a presentation on it. They can also be motivated to share their own ideas by using slideshare.
