Editor's Notes

  • #8: This program is developed as a part of two-year nationally funded project. It is cross-platform apps for Android, iOS and Windows devices. In the past, on-line in-service teacher development programs are usually recordings of lectures. But SMART teaching 3.0 adopts new formats such as storytelling, classroom observation, discussion, interview, etc. Contents are short videos; there are 40 movie clips and they run for 571 minutes in total. It is teacher centered design, and so there are 31 expert English teachers who participated in the video recording. It is focusing on teacher’s hands-on needs. It is designed based on teacher’s need analysis
  • #9: SMART teaching 3.0 is characterized by 5 features. SMART is an acronym for these featuers. First, S stands for self-directed: trainee teachers can choose what to learn, how to learn, any time, any there. Second M stands for motivating: ST adopts new knowledge delivery formats Third A stands for applicable: Fourth R… from the need analysis we’ve learned which part teachers want to learn want to observe other expert teachers’ teaching presentation.
