Covenant Retirement Communities 8/1999 – 7/2016
The fifth largest not-for-profit retirement communities with 12 campuses, and 3 home health agencies
across America.
 Developed and managed the strategic direction and planning road map of information
technology -8MM in operating budget; 4MM million in capital projects
 Responsible for all technology (for both the business and amenity/services that was
provided to all the campuses as well as hiring the technical staff at each of the campuses
 Provided day-to-day leadership and direction in all aspects of technology infrastructure,
99% virtualized network, application packaging and delivery, security, hardware lifecycle
management, VoIP (Shoretel) and help desk support from the centralized IT department.
The technology department supports more than 2500 users and 15 remote sites and
includes project management, IT security, consulting, infrastructure (LAN / servers /
telecommunications) and desktop and help desk support
 Managed 8 direct reports and 12 indirect (onsite/remote) staff
 Led negotiating contracts across all areas: telecommunications, software, hardware, and
consulting, by leveraging the company’s purchasing power
 Presented financial forecast and status on IT projects and initiatives in monthly business

 Partner with consultants to plan and implement a voice strategy that moved variable costs to
fixed, created virtual call center capabilities that improved resource efficiencies, and lowered
the cost of telecommunications infrastructure support and maintenance

 Implemented many projects but to list a few –
 Router/Switch migration from HP to Juniper
 Implemented 100% WIFI across the entire campus and provided ISP services to residents
 Implemented Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and saved the organization hardware refresh cost
by extend the life of older hardware and implemented a thin desktop solution that cut the cost
of a desktop by 40%
 Implemented Single Sign-on solution that reduced login time into applications (20) for our
clinicians/nurses giving them 45 minutes per shift back to spend more time taking care of our
residents
 Instead of hiring a security officer, partnered with a Virtual CISO position that continued to
implement the security strategy at a lower cost
 Expanded from single computer room to 2 data centers (private cloud). Also, started a
migration strategy to the public cloud
 Planned, developed and implemented a 24/7 help desk outsourcing solution, saving the
company about $300,000 a year
 Participated in a variety of software advisory boards and active in national and state
associations that promote the use of technology
 Effective organizational, planning and project management skills
