Twitter
Engage with Influencers
@susvis
How to engage with
influencers?
14@susvis
• Have a conversation with them about
something they created!
• Listen to a podcast, watch a video,
read an article… then tweet about
something you learned.
• After having this conversation, I
learned that Brett is top on the
FinancialBrand.com list of influencers.
Make them remember
your name!
15@susvis
• Point out the books influencers have
written by mentioning the author and
providing a link to their book.
• Thank the person who provided you
with great content!
• After having this conversation, I
learned that Ron is near the top on the
FinancialBrand.com list of influencers.
Share great content with your followers!
16@susvis
• Even if you are listening to a
presentation that can’t be shared
with your external audience,
mention what you are doing.
• Find content from the speaker that
you can share! Sharing older
content is still valuable.
No influencer is off-limits on social!
17@susvis
• Authors, speakers, founders of
companies, actors, even the president
of the USA!
• If you like something someone did, tell
them. Everyone likes to be recognized
for the work that they do.
• You could complain too, but you
might not make too many friends that
way.
Recognize people who took the time to thank
you
18@susvis
• If someone reaches out to you with
a thank you, a question, or even a
favourite, take the time to thank
them.
• While you’re at it, start a
conversation!
Make a habit of recognizing others
19@susvis
• #FF = Follow Friday
• Use this to call out the many people
who interacted with you over the
past week.
• You can do several of these and
put them in categories: people I
met; people who started following
me; people you want to meet!
Learn more about influencers
from their profile
20@susvis
• Spend time looking at the profiles of the people
who are considered influencers.
• Click their links to learn more about them and the
content they tend to share.
• Go through their following list to find people you
may wish to follow.
• Twitter automatically shows you the followers you
have in common.
Pay attention to lists of top
influencers
21@susvis
• This list from FinancialBrand.com makes it
easy to connect with everyone on their list.
Just click the Twitter or LinkedIn icons!
Find more influencers via
Twitter Lists
22@susvis
• You can find a list by clicking on a
person’s profile photo.
• See the lists they’ve subscribed to.
• Subscribe to a list to focus the
conversations in your stream.
• Follow those people you most like
hearing from.

• Add a personal note in the invite: “I
hope you enjoyed IBM Vision as much
as I did. Let’s stay in touch.”

• Join relevant groups and begin reading
posts.
