Social Media Collecting
with Social Feed Manager
(in 10 minutes)
Collecting social media from API vs. website
Advantages of API:
ā— Structured data (typically JSON).
ā— Tend to be stable.
ā— Some provide more metadata than
available from website.
ā— Data can be collected efficiently.
Disadvantages of API:
ā— Not all social media platforms have
complete, public APIs.
ā— Data not readily human-viewable.
ā— Each API is different.
ā— Some platforms (notably Twitter) limit
data sharing.
ā— May be greater limitations on the
data available from API, especially
historical data.
