This document summarizes research into co-designing software with older people. Cultural probes, technology tours, interviews and observations were used as methods. The research found that older people felt isolated and wanted a simple way to communicate informally with others. A prototype called PAD was developed that allowed informal chatting and included a non-competitive card game to promote social interaction. User trials identified some challenges around using the tablet interface and video chatting software. The research promoted a person-centered design approach and more information is available on the listed website and contact.
