Editor's Notes

  • #10: Each procedure Three elements:LAdefintion of the procedureA bullet point check list of what you should aim otachive in the procedureThe procedure represented as a worlkflow diagramThe diagram is intended to show the relationship between the people, process, and information. This is represneted across 5 columns:eg Acquisition ProcedurePeople involved – go to avatars, the process – ie what the people need to do to carry out the procedure; any procedures which are linked at different points in the procedure – here you may need to make plans to receive the object (if it is not already in the museum) in which case you will need to consult the Entry Procedure – you may need to implement that procedure, or parts of it before you move onto the next step; Information – these are the information requirements you needed to be collected at a particular point in a procedure – such as Date, Object identification number. The last column in th workflow is the System column – at the moment this will always say “Collections Management System” – and it describes what ever type of systems you may have in place (paper and/or digital) to record your collections management activity. May seem strange to have a column with one item in it – but this column is important – its flagging up something that will be necessary as we include other types of system in our collections management activity, and new SPECTRUM procedures – it could in the future for example say Digital Asset Management system. Or Content Management system
