FINDING OUR REALITIES JAIME PEREZ Speech 104
Reality According to Webster dictionary, reality simply means the quality or state of being real.
DIFFERENCES OF REALITIES Everyone will have different realities about different subjects, or in other words different perspectives on the topic. For example some people may see abortion as murder and absolutely wrong while others see abortion in reality as being ok and a safe alternative to having a child.
PERCEPTION PROCESS This is the process by which we create our realities of people, events, and things from our environment. It involves three phases in which we seek to create the most accurate reality to what is real.
First phase of perception process is to select date from the Environment We us our senses of sight, taste, feeling, hearing , and smell to take in information as it passes before us. We receive so much information throughout the day and it is up to us to select what we retain and what we just let go by.
Second phase is to organize and prioritize the info
Third phase is to interpret the data received In this phase you analyze all the information you retained through the first phase and you sort of translate it into something you can understand so you can put some meaning to it. It is like translating a sentence from one language to another so you can understand it and make sense of it. HELLO
REALITY TESTING Reality testing is a way to polish our interpretation on people, events, and things in our environment. Methods of doing this are -Share/compare Realities with others to reduce differences among the many realities you have created. -Develop better listening skills. -Emphathic listening where we have an open mind. -Deliberative learning
STASIS Reaching a reality we are comfortable with for an extended period of time in which end in a state of peace and are “at rest”.
ILLUSION What does your sense of sight make you think of this? Is it reality that the circle is spinning?
