This document proposes an app that uses crowdsourced and anonymized location data from mobile devices to display real-time occupancy information for various on-campus locations like libraries, gyms, and dining halls. The app would show users how busy specific locations are on a map and suggest alternative nearby places that have fewer people. This would help students make efficient decisions about where to go and avoid wasting time searching crowded areas. Competition in related areas shows there is demand for real-time location-based services using anonymized data from large user bases.
