SPRING BREAK
PARTY!!!!!
it’s Spring Break and you’ve got a great idea! You’ll throw
the party of the century!!(that’s 100 years) There’s only
one problem, it’s just an idea right now. You’ve got to get
a place, food and drinks, DJ(if you want) and other things
to make this party happen. You’ve got to drive there
and….oh yeah…...you need to invite people. It can be
overwhelming. Just follow the template I’ve given you
and the party should go off without a hitch.
GOOD LUCK!!!
1. WHEN AND WHERE?
First thing’s first; you need a location to host the party at.
Research different locations online to find the perfect party venue!!
Enter the information you’re going to use below.

HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO SPEND ON YOUR OWN?

Now you need to figure out the cost per person. Fill out the table
below:

Now write an equation that will give you how much each guest has to
pay to walk through the door at your party. Your equation should be in
the form:

Part 2
a. What do you notice about the values of “# of guests” compared
to “$ per guest”?

Part 3
Now you have to think about all the other expenses for the party:
- Food/Drinks
- Gas
- Entertainment(if you want)
1. (for food/drinks look up catering services)
2. (gas will be $1.42 per gallon adn cars will get 21 miles per gallon.
3. (you don’t need entertainment, but you can if you want. You’ll
just have to look up online what the cost would be.)
a. List the expenses below:
i. Food/Drink(for appropriate # of people)___________________________
ii. Gas[(# of miles)/(21 mpg)*($1.42) __________________(gas subtotal)
iii. Entertinment Costs____________________________(research this)
Part 4
You have to get someone to drive the guests, and you, to thte party.
No one wants to drive, so you’ve decided to allow all the drivers to
attend the party for free!
a. How many driver?_________(same as the # of cars)
i. (# of people) / (8 people per car)

PARTY!)
Part 5
Now total up all your expenses:
1. Food/Drink________________________

a. *This is the fixed cost that is an additional cost for your party.
Part 6
Now add on to your original equation from Part 1.c. to get your true
Party Cost function. Make sure your equation is in this form:

b. Graph your new equation on the SY-Plane below. After placing
your graph below describe any points of discontinuity and their
relevance to the real world situation.
