What’s our heritage?
Our heritage is the things we have from the past. This
includes books, documents, objects, buildings, art, music
and songs. We can learn about the past from these sources.
There have been many alphabets in history. Most come from Ancient
History, such as the Ancient Egyptian alphabet, the Greek alphabet and
the Roman alphabet.
What alphabets are there?
Books and documents are very important sources of history. We can
find out about important events and people from books, letters and
other written documents. We can also find out how people lived.
From children’s stories we know how parents wanted to educate their
children and what children’s lives were like.

An archaeologist is a person who digs under the ground to find objects
and buildings from the past.
Why are objects and buildings important?
Objects from the past are kept in museums. Objects and buildings from
the past can tell us a lot about the historical period in which they were
created.
Why are art, music and songs important?
We can find out about the past from visual sources such as paintings,
sculptures and photos. For example, we can see how people moved around,
what clothes they wore and what they did. Music and songs are also
important sources about the past.
