Stages of making my improved
    double page spread :
        Lauren Fitzsimons
Reason for this draft …
• I decided to make this double page spread from
the first drafts I have done because I realised that
in real magazines the person on the front would
often match with the double page spread. For
example I had my model Cheyenne in a convict
outfit but I had created a double page spread
with a girly theme these didn’t match so I
decided that I need to tie this theme together
this is the reason for this draft. To match the front
cover image to the double page spread I thought
that a police/convict theme would go nicely with
  this.

Making of police banners:
• This is my screen shot of my banners here I made
four different versions of the police banners
because I wanted to try all different text types in
order to achieve my final outcome. I made these
banners by creating shapes boxes and the adding
text over the top of this. To make the bottom one
was a little more complicated I had to make a
shapes box the I have to make individual squares
and scew them to go lopsided then I added my
  text as a final step.
This is my final banners that I
made from Photoshop I
decided that my favourite one
was the 4th one down as it
was clear and actually looked
like a proper police banner. I
also like the last one because
this is a little bit different to
the other three but I still think
this is effective and I also
chose this one to go on my
double page spread.

Making polaroid's
• This here is my screen shot of me making
polaroid’s I started off making one in
Photoshop and to make it stand out I added a
stroke in black just to outline the picture and
make it stand out. I duplicated the layer 3
times so that I would have three more to work
with and I just placed my chosen pictures into
them. I think the outcome of these look quite
  successful and professional.
Here are my chosen texts that I used on my police banners my favourite was the second but I
also liked the last one because it was edgy and different however wouldn’t be clear like a
police banner would. All four are quite different and this is why I chose to do so many drafts.
This is my text that was used on the double page spread I like this font as I think the
background of the text helps it stand out much more than a normal text would. Ii like
the edgy twist of some of the white spaces being eliminated. I decided to put the
criminal text in black as its bold and I also think that’s what a police file would be like.
The pink for Cheyenne’s name was to give it a girly twist and this would appeal to my
target audience.
Stages of making my improved double page spread
Process one
• The columns for the boxes of text was very easy to do as I
had looked back at my plans and referred to these when
making the layout of my double page spread. Once I had
my layout right I copied and pasted my interview into the
boxes this made it flow nicely. Here I have added my police
tape to the double page spread from when I made it earlier
in Photoshop. I wanted this to run along the top of the
double page spread because I wanted to make it look like it
was two pages together. Here I have also added polaroid's
to my piece because I wanted them to break up the text I
have left spaces for the other two which i have to place
there. I have also changed the text to ‘verdrana’ which I
quite like as its clear and easy to read.

Second stage
• Here this is my second stage here I have picked
out the questions and have changed the colour
and made them bold so they don’t blend in with
the rest of the text. I have also added another
police border to the top of the page so they are
both running along each other. I wanted to pick
pink for the text as I thought this would go with
the cover stars name and also with the front page
and contents page. The size of the text I have also
changes as I noticed that when looking though
them the font would be a size either 8 or 10 and
mine was 12 so it was too big for the purpose.

Third stage
• Here I have changed the colours of the text as
I thought I could tie in the border colour of
yellow in as well so I made the questions pink
and yellow in a pattern. I have also added
boxes behind the questions as they stand out
but also tie in with the police ‘criminals
  background file’ too.
