- 2. INTRODUCTION Kia ora welcome to NZ singers. I’m Zayde with Tyler, Andre and Ard. We are presenting information about an outstanding New Zealand singer called Stan Walker We chose Stan Walker because we like his music. We also have some cool facts for you.
- 3. WHY STAN WALKER • We chose Stan Walker because we love his music and he is a talented singer and he is well known.
- 4. WHO IS STAN? Stan Walker is famous in New Zealand,Australia and America. Stan’s career started after winning Australian idol. Stan sings POP and R&B. In December 2009 Walker released his studio album,Introducing Stan Walker,which included the hit single ”Black Box”. The album debuted at number three on the Australian ARIA.
- 5. EARLY LIFE Stan Walker went to Arataki Primary School, in Mt Manganui. He has 4 other siblings. His childhood was plagued by problems with drugs and violence. Walker was abused by a family member, which led his problems with drugs and thieving.
- 6. EARLY CHILDHOOD His Father Ross was repeatedly jailed for beating his wife April and his 5 kids. His mum and dad were drug dealers and both had been in jail. Stan must have had a hard life. When things were looking so bad he found two special things and those things were religion and singing. He said it made him a good boy again.
- 7. CAREER In 2009 Stan Walker produced the album and single ‘Little Black Box’ in November the 22nd. Stan won Australian Idol in season 7. ‘Little Black Box’ was the number one hit. The song reached number two on the Australian charts. Stan sings pop and R&B .
- 8. HIGHLIGHTS AND AWARDS When Stan steamed through Australian Idol, he became very famous. He was on the top 10 list for best singers in the world. He has gone on to make 2 more albums since 2009, ‘From the Inside Out’ in 2010, with hit singles from the album ‘Unbroken’ and ‘Choose You’.

INSIGHTS ON STAN • The insights we have about Stan is that his life shows us that anyone can change their life around, from bad to good, if they try and really want to like Stan did. • Even if you are a New Zealander and successful in music overseas or Australia, you don’t have to forget where you come from. • Stan Walker is a great role model and singer for young Kiwi kids.
