I. Introduction April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created The Apple Computer. They
incorporated the company on January 3, 1977 in Cupertino, California. Apple, Inc. is responsible for
bringing to market such products as the Macintosh desktop and portable computer, iPod and iTunes,
and most recently, the iPhone. What many people may not know is that after founding Apple, Jobs
was fired by the company 's board of directors 10 years later at age 30. After his termination, he
went on to create two more companies. During this period Apple went through three different CEOs
and their stock price dropped to $2 a share. As a result, Jobs was invited back to join the company as

It's quite clear that the actual strategy of Steve Jobs and Apple goes toward a biggest share of the
computer markets, although it's never sure in which way they plan to improve/achieve such a goal.
Another key issue in up–to–today Apple strategy is it's entrance on mobile markets, due to the big
importance the telecommunications and their integration with all the other existing electronic
devices (VOIP, UMTS, mobile broadband internet etc) has in shaping a so–called digital
era/revolution.
The first steps in the mobile phone market let us understand once more what the key points in Apple
strategy are. Innovation and Exclusivity go together, a higher–than–the–average price place the new
device as a cult and trend object, something everybody want to have, a real status symbol. In few
words Apple probably believes that a key concept in Innovation is the creation of a need. Along with
the innovation in design, Apple is a pioneer and a leader as well in Environmental issues, another
innovative approach that is granting more and more importance among customers of any product
and people in general, due to very sensitive issue like Global Warming and home safety.

well prior to 1991? Apple was successful virtually from the date of the company's first launch in
1976 (Fisk, 2008). Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak sold their initial 200 units without difficulty and
that made it possible for them to secure the necessary venture capital to expand their fledgling
company into one that quickly grew into being one of the premier computer manufacturers at a time
when there was comparatively little competition. They sold their first 100,000 Apple Units and

Strengths and Opportunities In 2005, Apple Computers experienced significant sales increases
attributable to the earlier rollout of the iPod (Robbins & Judge, 2009). The positive publicity and
brand perception associated with that project also spilled over to its entire line of Macintosh
computers, further bolstering sales revenue and corporate profits that year. The sales volume of
virtually all Apple products increased after the introduction of the iPod, hitting $320 million in June
of 2005 (Robbins & Judge, 2009). In general, every successful Apple product has benefited brand
recognition and perception and invigorated the sales of other product lines, even those not directly
related to it. By the end of 2005, Apple had sold approximately 22 million iPod units and more than
half a billion individual song downloads through its music store, iTunes (George & Jones, 2008).
Weaknesses
Generally, there is also a potential downside to the cross–promotional effect of products: namely, to
the extent consumers draw conclusions about all company products from its failures. In 2005, Apple
suffered from this principle twice, after many iPods were released with batteries that performed
