Student Needs Project
Motivation
The students project was/is being developed to
employ a blended learning environment to meet the
following learning goals:
1. Work an environment that promotes growth
mindset
2. Develop appropriate on-line etiquette(netiquette)
3. Develop Digital/Social Literacy Skills
4. Engage students in collaboration and develop
their personal voices (Student Voice)
5. Provide learning opportunities that give “Bridges
out of Poverty”

Overview
Build a website/brand that catalogues community
created “how-to” (Procedures) lessons that are not taught in
school but are considered important to a student’s future
success in life.

Framework
The project uses the Simcoe County D2L
environment as a learning and collaborative environment.
This is coupled with numerous Web Based (Web 2.0) and
Social Media tools that enhance the experience and
develop proficiency in digital literacy. Underlying this
learning environment the project employs business start
up model to achieve the end goal of creating a complex
website and brand.

Learning Format
We wanted to keep a consistent format that allowed us the flexibility to use
a variety of tools but would be familiar enough to promote student success.
Looks something like this:
1. Presentation and tutorial
2. Exposure to web 2.0 tool to demonstrate
learning/collaboration/research
3. Demonstrate and exhibit work in Discussion Area
4. Read, Reflect and Respond
5. Consolidate through survey to drive the next phase
